It happened to señor Victorino Mejia, an ordinary man from San Martin Texmelucan, Puebla, who went to the celebration, that he drank a lot and got drunk. On his way back he laid to sleep under a tree. Some vultures came and started flying over him. He entrusted himself to the Holy Virgin of San Juan, and she scared the vultures away. Victorino dedicates the present retablo in gratitude and promises to never drink again.

My goat was tangled up in the wires, and the vultures were going to kill her. But thanks to the Holy Virgin nothing happened to her.

I was lost in the desert with my donkey. We were dying from insolation and thirst. Suddenly I saw many angels coming to us. They flew to take us to the heaven. But then I realized they weren’t angels but vultures. I prayed the Virgin of San Juan for help, and some travelers in a truck noticed us. They took us with them and gave us water. I thank the Virgin for saving our lives.

Cornelio Benitez got lost in the desert with his donkey. He was so desperate when he saw the vultures flying over him. He asked the Virgin of Guadalupe for guiding him in right direction. And so he and the donkey came out of the desert. He thanks for this miracle.
