January 2019, Popocatepetl had a strong eruption spewing lava and ash. I was greatly frightened because my entire house was shaking. I dedicate this humble retablo, with all my heart, to the Lord of the Wonders thanking him for Don Goyo calmed down. I ask not to let it wake up ever again because my family and I live very close to it.

With this humble retablo, I wholeheartedly ask Saint James the Apostle not to let Don Goyo to erupt. It’s been very active in the last months. Although we are used to its flames and ashes, we are afraid it wakes up because my family and I, we live very close to it.

I’m from North America. When I started studying the Mexican culture, I fell in love with its legends, but my favorite one is the Legend of Volcanoes. I dedicate this retablo to the Holy Virgin of Guadalupe in gratitude for I traveled to the Mexico Valley and saw myself the greatness of Popocatepetl y del Iztaccihuatl.

Marcial Perez thanks Saint James the Apostle for Don Goyo doesn’t erupt anymore. Although there is a smoke coming out sometimes, the people of the village keep living without worrying about mr. Popocatepetl.

Note:
Don Goyo is a popular nickname for Popocatépetl.

Thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for all your favors. I used to climb to the mountains to look at Popocatépetl. One day I fell asleep and fell down injuring my arm and my leg. I couldn’t walk for a while. I dedicate this retablo to the Brown skin girl of Tepeyac.

Indalesio Huitzil went to tend his sheep and saw a group of UFOs that were flying to the volcano Popocatépetl’s crater. He was stunned and prayed to the Lord of the Wonders. He brings this as a testimony to what happened.
