I’m thanking, with all my heart, the Virgin of Guadalupe for keeping our family tradition of knitting. My mother and grand-mother were weavers and they taught me since I was little girl. My serapes, huipils and rebozos are highly valued among the foreign tourists who buy them when they visit my town.

When Zinaida Semyonovna retired she started knitting rather odd things. At first her friends and relatives were concerned if she is alright, but then they discussed it and decided that if it makes her happy that’s probably ok. Zinaida Semyonovna cordially thanks her friends and relatives for their understanding and promises to knit an oven mitt for each of them as a New Year gift.

The Carlota Valdez’ knitting threads always got tangled up. She tried to put them separately but it didn’t help, and they inexplicably resulted tangled up anyway. The same happened with the electric wires. One night Carlota went to sleep and left her knitting basket under the bed. She was awaken by some noises and saw whose fault was it. There were blue demons playing with her threads. Carlota gives thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan, because that day she put an image of the Holy Virgin in the knitting basket and the demons never came back.

I’m thanking, with all my heart, the Virgin of Juquila for keeping our family tradition of knitting. My mother and grand-mother were weavers and they taught me since I was little girl. Now my serapes, huipils and rebozos are most valued among the foreign tourists who buy them.

My cat and I became old and withered. We didn’t do anything. I was knitting needless scarves, and my cat was sleeping on the cushion. But one day I took three stray kittens. At first, my cat was unfriendly towards them, but step by step these little creatures brought joy to our lives. Now my old cat even plays with the kittens, and I’m enjoying watching them run, jump and play with each other. I thank Saint Francis for these kittens.

I was very irritable and quick-tempered. I argued and shouted, and it upset my husband. Therefore my marriage was under threat. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan who gave me the idea of channeling my anger into a pair of knitting needles. Now when I feel that I’m getting angry, I run and grab the knitting and knit furiously. I’ve already knitted sweaters and scarves for the whole family and even for our cats and dog, and I’m still knitting. Now, thanks to this, I can almost always be sweet with my husband and my family.
