I prayed the Virgin of Guadalupe to help me to defend myself from my husband because he was always abusive and when he came home drunk he used to beat me. The Virgin inspired me to start practicing boxing. The other day when he came drunk, I put my gloves on and beat the crap out of him. Since then, he wouldn’t dare to hit me, and I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for that.

May 18, 2005, I was challenging Lopez the Puma in the national bantamweight title. In the 7th round, after a bloody fight, I threw a jab in his jaw and he fell down. Seeing that he wouldn’t get up and being happy with my triumph, I beg the Holy Virgin not to let any damage happen to him and she did so. I give thanks.

Sandoval “the Cocky”

Casimiro Ramos was about to make his debut as a boxer. But when he came up to the ring, he felt so scared he peed himself. He thanks Saint John Bosco with this retablo for, despite this embarrassment, he stood and fight and won.

Marcelo “El Torito” Dominguez thanks Saint Charbel for having won the boxing championship in light heavyweight. The saint has been giving him his divine help since the beginning of his career in the Tepito neighborhood. He brings this humble retablo for that.

I thank the Holy Child Doctor of the Sick for granting me with health so I could back to boxing. A Canadian boxer knocked me down very strongly and I was told I wouldn’t be able to box ever again. And then we met at the ring once again, only this time I won the championship. I dedicate the present ex-voto with all my heart.

Juan “The Falcon” Mendez

Day before his fight, Ruperto Rivero got sick with a diarrhea. Since no remedy could help him, he implored the Virgin of Guadalupe. Ruperto recovered and won the fight. He thanks for that.

Mexico, 1948

The Suarez brothers, Ernesto and Pedro, were fighting at the final of the local boxing tournament. That boxing match was so intense it ended with tie. Both brothers received the rewards. They thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for this achievement.

Frivolito Santos

The janitor Roberto Mendoza was rude to a boxer, and the boxer couldn’t take it and, with a right powerful punch, sent Roberto to the hospital. He thanks Saint John Bosco for this lesson and promises to not be a clown anymore.

The great day came, when El Canelo should confront Mayweather. They were going even but it ended bad for El Canelo.
