I thank the miraculous Black Christ of Veracruz because I survived and didn’t lose my right hand when I was attacked by a shark while swimming in the open sea,

With this retablo, we thank Saint Jude Thaddeus, from the bottom of our hearts, for a very good fish season. Thanks to that we managed to open our fish shop at the city market. So now we can help our parents. May you be blessed.

My husband started to catch mermaids. I was very jealous seeing how beautiful they were. But when he saw that these damned gluttons were eating all his fish yield so he was left with nothing to sell, my husband finally came to his senses and released the mermaids back in the sea. I thank Saint Raphael, protector of the fishermen.

Marina Perez worked in a fish shop, and she came home having a fishy smell. Her husband didn’t want to approach her, and Marina felt offended and sad. Then, with all her savings, she opened a flower shop. So now she smells like roses and jasmine. And her husband even offered her to have a new baby. She thanks Saint Anthony because now she is happy.

Alejandro Chavez caught a shark. He though it was dead, so he put his hand in shark’s jaws. The shark bit him. Alejandro thanks St. Peter for saving his hand from a serious surgery.

Pablo Velez brings this retablo to Saint Peter in order to thank him for catching an enormous tuna with pretty basic fishing gear. With what they paid for the tuna, Pablo now has enough money to buy a new boat.

After few years of marriage my husband was taken by the sea. He left me alone with our little boy whom I had to feed. I didn’t know a lot about fishing, but I took the boat and the net and went to the sea. I asked St. Barbara for help, and she decided to help me. My net was filled with fish. So, without great effort, I managed to have a good yield. In that way I was able to collect enough money to open a fish shop at the town market.
