Thank you, Virgin of Zapopan, because Chicharito scored his first goal on the 64th minute. He got a pass from Marquez, the defense stopped, Chicharito controls, he cuts to the goalkeeper Lloris from the right, shoots and go-o-o-o-oal! That’s how the triumph of Mexico over France began on June 17, 2010.

Fidel Quiroz ate green cherimoyas and got a diarrhea. No remedy would help him, and he implored the Holy Child of Atocha. Fidel got better, could play with his team and even won the championship. He thanks for that.

Enrique Martinez was watching soccer with his lady. He was going mad and almost died choking on a peanut. He thanks Saint Juan Bosch with this retablo because his wife knew about first aid and saved him.

The sisters R. and A. Ortega loved to have orgies with the soccer team. But one day they were caught by a coach who told everything to their parents. The sisters thank the Virgin of San Juan with this retablo for they weren’t kicked out of the house but only scolded.

I’m not a good football player but since I’m the son of the team owner the coach always keeps me on the bench. The other day, during a very important match, the forward of my team was injured and I was put to play. I dedicate the present retablo to Saint John Bosco in gratitude for I scored the victory goal although I did it in a very peculiar manner since I didn’t even see the ball coming. It hit me in the face and went into the goal.

My husband was a football fan. He used to come home and turn on the TV first thing to watch his games. He didn’t pay me any attention and never had time for the intimacy. I was so desperate I even thought about asking for a divorce. I fervently prayed Saint Barbara, and little by little my husband’s sport fever went down. Now he’s a more loving and, above all, fulfilling husband.

The discussion on the stands became very intense during a game Chivas–America, and Facundo Romero ended up in a fight with Alfredo Sierra. They both thank Saint Jude Thaddeus for they managed to get out from the stadium without being arrested, although very much beaten. Now they are friends.

The national soccer team thanks the Holy Child Football player with all their hearts because he has heard their prayers and they won a ticket to the world championship. They were at the point of watching it on tv at home but at the end they got through by the skin of their teeth. Now they are very happy to go there.

With this humble retablo, I thank Saint Patrick because my husband hasn’t found out about my love affairs with the young and handsome plumber. My husband’s unique interest is watching his soccer games all day long, and there’s no attention for me. So I have to satisfy my woman needs with a real man.

With this humble exvoto I ask the Holy Child Football player so that everything would go well for our national team at the world championship in Russia. So that we wouldn’t end up with penalties, and Ochoa would take everything, and Chicharito wouldn’t fail us, and they wouldn’t penalize us—like in case with Robben when there was no foul—and so we would stay at least till the fifth game to bring some joy to our very devastated Mexico.
