My husband was a football fan. He used to come home and turn on the TV first thing to watch his games. He didn’t pay me any attention and never had time for the intimacy. I was so desperate, I even thought about asking for a divorce. I fervently prayed Saint Charbel, and little by little my husband’s sport fever went down. Now he’s a more loving and, above all, fulfilling husband.

My wife’s best friend flirted with me a lot but I didn’t pay any attention to it until one day she went absolutely shameless and tried to seduce me. Unfortunately, my wife saw us. I thank Saint Pancras with this exvoto for I managed to convince my wife that I was innocent, since she was so angry she wanted to divorce me and I didn’t want to lose her because I really love her very much.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe because after many prayers she granted me with the great favor and helped me in my fight over the championship against El Salvaje (The Savage) and I won with “la zacatecana” move (?).

Since I married my Elenita, her nosy mother came to live with us because she couldn’t live without her daughter. Our marriage was a hell because that lady always gave her opinion on everything and wanted the things done her way. We couldn’t even have intimacy. I’m thanking Saint Raymond with the present retablo because my wife finally realized that the marriage is for two only and asked her mother to move out. That day we had a party.

Enedina Abascal dedicates the present retablo to Saint Anthony of Padua thanking him because she met Ponciano, the love of her life. She was a soldier, and they fought together at the times of the Revolution. When the fight was over, they could get married and were very happy.

Saint Charbel, thank you. There were five of us hiding in a trench. When we saw the Dorados of Villa coming we went out screaming that we gave up. Right away I got a bullet in my chest and fell down. I survived by a miracle. I was lucky that the bullet came through and didn’t touch my heart. My four comrades, however, were killed. I thank Saint Charbel with this retablo for getting alive.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for not losing my eye and going blind when I was gathering prickly pears and one fell down in my eye hitting me with thorns.

I was so desperate I even thought about asking for a divorce. I fervently prayed Saint Barbara, and little by little my husband’s sport fever went down. With this humble retablo, I thank Saint Patrick because my husband hasn’t found out about my love affairs with the young and handsome plumber. My husband’s unique interest is watching his soccer games all day long, and there’s no attention for me. So I have to satisfy my woman needs with a real man.

I dedicate this retablo to Saint Barbara thanking for I’m not pregnant. My periods were delayed, so I bought a pregnancy test. I was frightened to see the result since I had no idea who might be the father. The thing is lately I had affairs with my neighbor, my friend from the university and even a professor. But now I’m relieved, since the result turned to be negative.

Martina Ojeda thanks Saint Joseph for the miracle that her husband Eulalio came back home to celebrate the Christmas with her and their children. He worked whole year and they didn’t see him all that time and missed him so much.

I, Ambrosio Fernandez, town hall secretary of the Torreón city, dedicate this retablo to Saint Fermin because our town is proud to be the birthplace of Ricardo Montalban, a great actor from «Fantasy Island», «Hawaii Five-O», «Columbo», «Dynasty», «Star Trek», «The Colbys», «The Love Boat», «Ironside» and many other great TV series.

Avelino Sanchez thanks, form the bottom of his heart, the Virgin of Guadalupe for helping him that night when the town lumber storage was on fire. The flames were dangerous but he went through it unharmed.
