On his way out of the bar, Carmelo Ruis ran into two of his mistresses. They chased him with a broom and a stick for Carmelo disobliged them. He thanks the Child of Atocha for they didn’t get him.

Pasesita Robledo felt very lonely because her friend went back to her birth-town. So she prayed Saint Francis and then found some cats. She isn’t lonely anymore, and she thanks for that with this retablo.

Tequisquiapan, 1919

The boys Jorge and Toño Menendez were playing at the cemetery, and two skeletons appeared to them. They wanted to bite the kids. The boys prayed to St. Nicholas and managed to escape safe and sound. They thank for that with the retablo.

When I was caught by the rebels, their leader Tallarin ordered to hang me on a tree. I entrusted myself to the Virgin of San Juan. She heard my prayers and saved me from death. I bring this retablo thanking her.

Felipe Rodriguez got tired of her food being constantly criticized by her mother-in-law. She blew her with a frying-pan and split her head open. Felipe thanks Saint Pascual Baylon for she didn’t stay in jail for a long time.

Pablo Telles tried to make a new weightlifting record and hurt his knee in this attempt. He thanks Saint John Bosco with this retablo for his recovery although he won’t lift weights ever again.

1927, during the celebration of the town day in Zacatlan, a son of doña Cleta Sandoval fell of the fortune wheel. She thanks the Holy Child of Atocha for the boy resist the hit and didn’t die, although he remained little bit dumb.

Chucho Ramirez was robbing a church. But he repented when an image of Saint Francis suddenly talked with him. Chucho thanks for this miracle after which he gave himself to the police.

Leopolda Tecanguey had difficulties with her mother-in-law because she didn’t know how to cook. She prayed to Saint Paschal Baylon, and now she cooks so delicious, that her mother-in-law even licks her fingers after the meal. Leopolda thanks for that.

A barber Artemio Gutierrez had a hangover and his hands were shaking. So when he was cutting the municipal president hair, he accidentally cut his ear. Artemio thanks Saint John Bosco for he was forgiven and wasn’t thrown in jail.
