Frida comes to Brooklyn!!! I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe very much for the current exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum called “Frida Kahlo: Appearances can be deceiving.” Her clothes and personal belongings illustrate her personality which was the focus of her art. I didn’t visit her Blue House during my staying in Mexico City but now it’s been recreated in Brooklyn, just in few steps from where I live.

I had a fall and injured my leg. I was very sad thinking that maybe I could never join my dance group again. I prayed Saint Jude Thaddeus for my recovery, and he made me a miracle of curing me. Now I can dance son jarocho again which I’m so much passionate about. May you be blessed.

With this small humble retablo, I infinitely thank the Lord of Divine Mercy because I got vaccinated from covid-19. I was worried because I didn’t want to catch this horrible virus, and now, after being vaccinated, I feel much more protected and relieved.

I was sowing the field when suddenly a horrible tornado was formed. I entrusted myself to Saint Jude Thaddeus, and little by little the tornado disappeared. I thank him for that with this humble retablo.

I lost my vision because of an illness, and it depressed me greatly, since I live alone. I’m infinitely grateful to Saint Lucy, with this humble retablo, for having a seeing-eye dog Spike. Apart from being my eyes when I go out, he’s also my best friend.

We wholeheartedly ask the Holy Child of Atocha, with this humble retablo, to end this pandemic, because we weren’t able to celebrate the Christmas holidays as we traditionally do because of COVID-19. We beg to be able to celebrate them the next year with all our relatives and friends.

I dedicate the present exvoto to Saint John Bosco for allowing me to successfully combine my two jobs. In the morning, I’m a respectful teacher in a prestigious school, and at night, I participate in a famous drag queen show, and I very much enjoy those both jobs.

I dedicate this humble retablo to Saint Jude Thaddeus, with deep gratitude, for having a gift of making traditional masks. Since I opened my shop 15 years ago, my masks have become very valuable for the carnivals in the region, and even people from other cities of the country started buying them.
