Thank you, White Girl, for hearing my prayers and not letting my tacos stand to perish. I also thank the firemen squad for helping the people and for holding on during their job.

Thank you Lord for saving my dog and for the neighbor didn’t kill him for tacos. One day I couldn’t find him, and all our family went searching for him. We thought he had been caught for tacos but good thing it wasn’t so and he only walked around the streets. Thank you very much.

I was very desperate when I was fired from my job. I didn’t know how to feed my family. Then I got an idea to sell tacos at night outside my house. I asked Saint Charbel for help, and thanks to his divine assistance the things are going very well. My tacos have become very famous in the neighborhood.

Manuel Rincon thanks Saint Martin the Cavalryman with all his heart because he inherited his grad-father’s secret meat recipe which he could use in his small taqueria. It gave a great taste to his tacos, and the clients enjoyed it very much. He dedicates this retablo for such a miracle.

I thank Saint Paschal Baylon with this retablo for having met my Maria. I love Mexican food, and she is an excellent cook. I used to travel a lot to Mexico for my work, then we met and got married and I stayed here. I’m very happy because she cooks for me, with great love, mole, quesadillas, chalupas, tacos and many other delicious dishes.

To the Holy Virgin of San Juan, I dedicate this retablo thanking for protecting me from the immigration police when they were running after me. I entrusted myself to her and was able to get to Rio Bravo, hide myself and cross it. With her blessing, I came to California and got a job. I saved good money and opened my tacos shop here in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

The night of May 30, 1949, some guys robbed don Carmelo Medina’s shop taking advantage of his wife being alone. The robbers took all the money they’d earned last month and also grabbed some bottles with expensive liquor. Thanks to the Holy Virgin, the gendarme Natividad was having a meal in the tavern of Lupita who has big eyes and very delicious tacos. He caught the bad guys because they didn’t notice him standing in the shadows. Don Carmelo thanks the Virgin of San Juan.

When I went to work as a cook to the United States, I missed traditional tacos al pastor more than every other food. I bring this retablo to Saint Toribio Romo with eternal gratitude for letting me open my own taqueria place which has got a big success as much with my compatriots as with the Americans.
