Ignacia Castillo offers this retablo to Saint Paschal Baylon as a sign of gratitude for helping her get a job as a cook in the ranch “Los Gorriones” (“The Sparrows”). As a test of her skills, she was asked to prepare tortillas and mole. The masters liked how it tasted. And it was rumored that they were very strict about food. So now everybody is happy with her cooking.

On the Day of the Dead, I was walking through the cemetery when I met a ghost. The ghost started chasing me, so I instantly sobered up from fear. I prayed to Saint Francis to whom I’m thankful because the ghost didn’t catch me and I arrived home alive.
