Yolanda presents this retablo because, when she was attacked and thought that she was going to die, she prayed to the Virgin of Guadalupe for not permitting this to happen. And now she’s thanking the Virgin.

With this retablo I, Tiburcio Acosta, am thanking the Virgin of Guadalupe because a mermaid saved me when I was hit by the waves. She took me back on the beach and now I’m repaying you with this ex-voto.

Jose and Jorge Ortiz give this retablo to the Virgin of Guadalupe thanking her for the success they had with their “huehue” dance on the carnival.

Barbara Rellez gives thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe for helping me in my work as a prostitute because she protects me from police, pimps, malignant clients and diseases. It’s difficult to earn a living working as a prostitute but you have always helped me.

I was a very naughty girl once. But the Virgin helped me to get out of this bad relationship.

May you be blessed, Our Mother of Guadalupe, for sending me relief from a strong hangover when I was vomiting with blood and feeling like death. I asked for saving my life and now I’m thanking you.
