Virgin of Guadalupe

Mr. Joaquin Hernandez loved cigars. But one day a scoundrel put a firecracker in his cigar and it exploded right in his face. He ended up in the hospital. He thanks the Virgin of Guadalupe for his recovery although the scars remain.

Thanks for everything.

That dark night in November, my family and I had to ride through the cemetery. We got scared as many skeletons, ghosts and dead men appeared to us. They looked threatening. We thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for her protection and because she gave our horse more speed so the dead didn’t get us.

With all my faith and devotion, I dedicate this humble retablo to the Holy Virgin of Guadalupe for looking after me every time I throw myself to the Gorge. That’s how I make my living. Since I put myself in her holy hands, nothing bad will happen to me.

O my Holy Virgin, what a terrible experience it was in the sea. My daughter Anita and I were swimming, and suddenly a giant octopus appeared to us. He grabbed us with his tentacles. I felt drowning, but fortunately nothing bad happened. We only got scared that he might take us down with him.

One day Roberto went to the mountains and got caught in the rain. He went to a cave for cover but a bear got out of there and chased him all over the mountains.

Virgin of Guadalupe, thank you for restoring my beloved husband’s health. He was dying because of this infection he got from the bullet. Holy Mother, Virgin of Guadalupe, I offer you this humble retablo thanking for this miracle.

I, Manuela Ruiz, at that dangerous moment entrusted myself to the Virgin of Guadalupe. The Virgin protected me and I shot my enemy down. Sincerely grateful.

We thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for making us invisible when the migration patrol was passing by. We were going to cross the river to get to the US and find my cousin who had already found a job for me there. I thank the Virgin for this job will help to support my family.

We had been on an island for three years. We fell in love with each other. And then we were saved by a plane.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for miraculously bringing my son back to me. He was lost for two days and two nights after we’d arrived to the town. He slipped out of my hand and I knew nothing about him until this very moment. Moreover, he is mentally challenged also. But I entrusted myself to the Holy Virgin and found him. Thank you, Virgin.
