I bring the present retablo to Saint Pascual Baylon who helped me so my tortillas went well and didn’t burn because my mother-in-law was to come. She loved my dishes, and I thank for that.

I’m a terrible cook. That’s why my mama used to say I’d never get married. But thanks to Saint Paschal I found a husband who cooks marvelously. He adores cooking, and it is his passion. He prepares delicious dishes for me and our kids. I thank Saint Paschal, the patron of cooks.

The morning of May 25 1964, I went to the market to buy meat and sausages. On my way back I was attacked by dogs. They grabbed my meat and started to eat it. I was afraid I’d be fired from my job as a cook if I came back without meat. I prayed the Holy Virgin, and she scared the dogs away. I picked up the meat, although it was slightly bitten, and cooked it marvelously at home.

It happened, Holy Virgin, that came out the octopus already cooked.

Gerardo Morales thanks Saint Charbel with all his heart because he inherited his grad-father’s secret meat recipe which he could use in his small taqueria. It gave a great taste to the tacos, and the clients enjoyed it very much. He dedicates this retablo for such a miracle.

I was a horrible cook, and my mother used to say that nobody would ever marry me. But thanks to Saint Paschal I found a husband who loves cooking and do it very well. I enjoy cooking very much. I think that’s why my food taste so good—I make it with all my love. My cooking is so good that even the angels come over to my kitchen to eat something. I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for giving me such passion and this wonderful gift.

I bring this humble retablo to Saint Paschal as a testimony of my eternal gratitude because he gives good taste to my dishes, and thanks to that I won the first place at the regional mole contest. I use the prize for the needs of my congregation.

The spaniard Pedro Velazquez came to Mexico and established a production of jamon serrano with an unique taste. WIth this retablo, he thanks the Lord of the Wonders for his success.

I was preparing a marvelous dinner for special guests when I noticed that my dog, who decided that he was a special guest, got at the table and served himself. I thank Saint Paschal Baylon for I managed to fix the dishes and pretend as nothing happened there. I had a success with my dinner, and everybody complimented me.

My wife began to eat in the bed. I hated it because there were a lot of crumbs in the bed. Also she chewed it with so much noise that I couldn’t sleep or watch TV. But the worst thing was that I was on a diet. But thanks to my prayers to the Virgin of San Juan an ant army came to our bed attracted by the food. They bit my wife so she stopped eating in bedroom.

Angel Andrade didn’t know how to cook. It happened to him that he opened the pressure cooker while it was hot. He got burned up with the beans. He thanks Saint Paschal Baylon for his healing.

One day I found out that I love to cook. But my wife wasn’t happy at all of having my at the kitchen. Every time I tried to make a wonderful dish, she used to get angry. It was frustrating. I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe because my friend Jorge, who is a widower, is very happy with letting me use his kitchen. He has a beautiful and spacious kitchen, and he loves what I cook. So there I can develop my culinary art as I wish.
