Granddaughter of doña Cleotilde Ramos is a very restless child. And at her birthday she spilt on herself the boiled stew that was on the stove. Her grandmother thanks the Virgin because her granddaughter Marianita didn’t burn herself very badly and they were able to celebrate her birthday.

I was a lousy cook and always burnt the food. I was afraid that my gluttonous boyfriend would leave me for a good cook. But Saint Paschal heard my prayers and requests and worked the miracle so I became a really good cook. I even invent my own recipes now. I thank the saint patron of cooks because my boyfriend has proposed to me.

I came to work as a cook in one house. But the lady who worked there was jealous because my masters loved my food better. She secretly put pepper and salt in my dishes. I ask Saint Paschal for help. And soon enough, the injustice was discovered by my masters. They fired her, so now I’m very happy to cook for the family.

I had a cockroach invasion in my kitchen. They climbed on the table when my friend Laura, who is fanatical about cleanliness, visited me. I almost died of embarrassment. I didn’t know what to do and I prayed to the Virgin of San Juan, so that she would help me in such a difficulty moment. Thanks to her divine intervention all cockroaches disappeared that night. I thank the Virgin because Laura didn’t part company with me after that incident. I love her very much and we have fun together.

We committed a heavy sin, trying to bewitch the Fulgencia’s husband. We danced ecstatically and did all exactly how doña Panful had taught us to keep him in love. We were dancing around the fire, when the charcoal began to meow devilishly and the horrible creature appeared to us. We started to pray the Virgin of Guadalupe at once, asking for forgiveness.

My kitchen was filled with cockroaches. My cat was very lazy to catch them. I didn’t know how to get rid of them. Saint Paschal gave me an idea to bring all my farm animals to the kitchen—the pigs, the ducks, the chicken. They ate all the cockroaches saving my kitchen, although they dirtied it up a little.

I thank Saint Paschal because I was admitted to the monsieur Pierre Bouvier school. He is the best chef but also the most strict teacher in the town of Santo Tomas. Thanks to the saint I cook very deliciously and occasionally invent new dishes. My teacher is very pleased with me. He thinks I’ll be a good chef.

My dog was very hungry because with so many work to do I forgot to feed it. The animal pulled the mushroom soup on the floor and ate a lot of it. But afterwards it got sick. It seems there was a poisonous mushroom in the soup. I thanks Saint Paschal for the pet doctor gave serum and other medicine to the dog and saved the animal. Because the dog keeps my company and I love it very much—almost like my children.

I climbed on the chair to get some spices. I lost my balance. I saw my baby sitting down on the floor. I prayed to the Virgin of San Juan and thanks to her I didn’t crush my baby nor the cat because I managed to spin myself in the air and fell near them.
