I loved very much my grandmother Lupita who was like mother to me. On April 7,1966 she suddenly started to feel pain in the chest. I was repeating the saint name of the Virgin of Guadalupe so that my grandmother wouldn’t die from heart attack like doña Camelia (?). And the Virgin worked the miracle. The pain was gone, and now my grandmother feels much better.

May you be blessed, Virgin of Guadalupe, because we came back from the peasant war. With the slogan «Land and freedom to the people!» we defended our property that had been taken from us by bad government supported by the big landlords who got more richer while the peasant got poorer.

I give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe for giving me the gift of speaking with birds that always gather around me, sing to me, share the joy and tell their stories. They always keep me company wherever I go.

I became a widower shortly after the wedding and I didn’t wanted to marry again. I brightened my loneliness in a company of my roosters. When they noticed that I was very sad they came to peck my feet so that I see that I wasn’t alone. I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for that.

My daughter had a strange disease. She couldn’t stay out in the sun. Because of that she slept by day and stayed awake by night. I prayed to the Virgin, and one day the witch, doña Clara, gave to my daughter an ointment. And now my daughter can go out in the daytime staying in shadow and even can go in school. I give thanks for that.

Virgin of Guadalupe, thank you for protecting me. A rude drunk threatened me with the pistol because I refused to dance with him. Another guy, noticing that annoying man, ventured on a very bold step. He started to dance with me, protecting me from the drunk with his own body. I thank the Virgin because this is my job and I make a living in this way.
