After a long drought I was about to lose my crop. I was worried because I wouldn’t be able to provide for my family. I asked Saint Isidor the Labourer for help, and he worked a miracle. Few days later the rains came and saved my land. I thank for that.

I was very sad for I’d been wrong in love. I asked Saint Anthony for his divine help, and few days later a very galant young man came to our town. I met him at the central square, and he began to court me. He’s turned out to be the love of my life. That’s what I always wanted so much, and I dedicate the present retablo for this.

The night before Day of the Dead, I woke up to drink a glass of milk. What a great fear I had when I saw a dead man eating from the altar we’d made for my grandfather. I implored the Lord of the Wonders so he would take and rest this soul. He heard my prayers, and it disappeared immediately.

One morning, my brother and I went fishing. Suddenly some sharks approached us. We were so frightened, we turned pale. We entrusted ourselves to Saint Peter, and one by one the sharks went away. We thank for that, with much devotion, bringing this retablo.

I wanted to add more realism to my character from the pastorale, and I had an idea to put more flares. By accident, I put the tail of my costume on fire. I thank Saint Michael the Archangel for one of my companions acted fast and found an extinguisher. If not I would have got all burned because everybody was thinking it was part of our performance.

With all my faith and devotion, I dedicate this humble retablo to the Holy Virgin of Guadalupe for looking after me every time I throw myself to the Gorge. That’s how I make my living. Since I put myself in her holy hands, nothing bad will happen to me.

When I lost my job my wife and I had to move to my mother-in-law. It was a true hell because she was very mean—she kept us as her servants and even forced me to massage her feet. I thank Saint Barbara for I finally found a job and we moved out. Now we are happy again.

I was quite depressed after my fiancé had cheated on me. I entrusted myself to Saint Anthony of Padua for delivering me of sorrow. Later I met a guy. He wasn’t from our places, and every time I was going to the church he tried to give me a flower. Eventually, he became my boyfriend. I’m very happy with my Pascual. He’s made me believe in love again. We are going to get married, and I dedicate this retablo for that.
