Virgin of Zapopan

My husband got ill, and the doctor said that he must stay in bed until he cured. My life became a real night, are. He asked me to bring him unimaginable things and after a while he didn’t need them anymore. Or he asked me to cook for him some complicated dishes, but then he left the food and didn’t eat. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for he got recovered quickly, otherwise, I would’ve gone insane.

A rare disease was killing pigs in our parts. Thanks to the fact that we gave to drink holy water to our pigs, they got cured and now they are healthy. We offer this retablo to the Virgin of Zapopan for that miracle.

When Rolandito Gutierrez went to the school he was attacked by some angry dogs. They threw him on the ground. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for they didn’t bite him and only ate his ham sandwich that he was eating. I dedicate this retablo because nothing bad happened with the boy.

I was participating in the quebradita contest with my group. At the end of our routine, my partner and I did the final pose, and my pants cracked. I was scared that because of me we were going to be disqualified by the judges. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because they didn’t notice this embarrassing moment and we won the first prize.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for letting me arrive in time to not allow my kitty to make a mistake listening the indecorous offers from an ugly stray cat who had approached her. My kitty is very refined, and I want her descendants to be from a pedigree cat, — not from any cat. I’m going to find a fiancé worthy of her.

It’s the Virgin of Guadalupe in the caption, but it’s the Virgin of Zapopan in the picture.

Abundio Ramos was coming back to his ranch, when the death on her gaunt steed started chasing him. He encrusted himself to the Virgin of Zapopan, and she worked the miracle so the Abundio’s horse ran faster that the bony one, and Abundio was able to escape.

Gilberto Morales became a widow. He didn’t wait a year before getting married again. But then the ghost of his first wife started to appear by night. Gilberto prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan for resting the late wife’s soul in peace. The Virgin heard him, and after November 14, 1954, the ghost didn’t appear any more.

Señora Rafaela was coming back from the market with her granddaughter when the big angry dog of Aurelio Medina attacked them. The dog had escaped, and it had already sent several persons to the hospital with its bites. Rafaela asked the Virgin of Zapopan for protection for her and her granddaughter. And miraculously the dog calmed down and didn’t hurt them.

Margarita Reyos Campos had an acute appendicitis attack while being in school. Her sister Rosalia prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan for looking after Margarita and protecting her during the surgery. She thanks the Virgin for saving her sister.

When my son Juan’s horse died I couldn’t imagine he’d grieve so deeply. He climbed on the stable roof and refused to come down to eat and to sleep. Thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan his godfather Carlos gave him a colt. My boy became happy again and started to eat. I offer this retablo to the Virgin.

My son had been charmed by a mermaid, and every day he took his boat and went to the reef to listen her singing. I was afraid that she could take him to the bottom of the sea as she had done before with many fishermen. I prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan, and thanks to her my son met a beautiful girl and he fell in love with her. That broke the charm of the mermaid. I thank for this miracle that saved my son.

My husband took dance lessons for the 15th birthday party of our daughter Rosita. He danced very badly and was scared of making fool of himself. He even became sleep-walker. He waked up and danced humming some waltz tunes. I thank Our Lady of Zapopan because after the party, when he realized that he can dance, he stopped his sleep-walking.
