Guillermo Gonzalez was sent by his boss to Veracruz to measure some lands. He went by horse. Because it was very hot, he stopped to take a short rest by the river. He fell asleep and heard a voice in his dream that was calling him. He woke up and saw three crocodiles ready to attack him. He’s sure it was the Virgin of Guadalupe who warned him in his dream, and he thanks for saving him.

I went to the river to do the laundry and fell asleep on the riverbank because it was nice and fresh over there. I was dreaming of a handsome man who looked me right in the eyes while talking about love. Then I woke up, and it was a crocodile who was looking straight at me. It was very close. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for giving me fast reflexes. I instantly got up and ran far away before the animal did something to me. Later I came back for the clothes, and I thank for the crocodile didn’t eat them.

I offer this retablo to the Divine Child of Atocha for the received favor of making my mother-in-law Chonita fall asleep while she was looking after the altar for the dead. She slept so deeply that I managed to eat a pastry. Pancracio Duran gives thanks.

Juan Chuk was fishing in his little boat in the area of Ojo Azul and fell asleep for a moment. He was very much surprised feeling the kick in the boat, he thought it was a dream. An enormous octopus, green and monstrous, climbed in the boat and was reaching for him. Horrified, he started praying the Dark-skinned Lady of Tepeyac and saw two little angels who appeared to help him in his fight against the creature. The octopus went away and took the net with the catch of the day. Juan thanks for stying alive and dedicate this retablo.

One day I was doing laundry on the river and fell asleep. Suddenly I was awoken by my dog barking, and I saw some martians trying to tie me up and take me to their ship. I started screaming. The extraterrestrials got scared and ran away leaving me. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for my dog woke me up in time and, I think, even bit one of those martians.

I went to the river to do the laundry. But since it was very hot, I laid down to sleep on the beach, in a shadow where it felt cool. I was dreaming of a handsome man who looked me in the eyes while talking about love. When I woke up I saw that it was a crocodile who was looking in my eyes. It was very close. Thank heaven for giving me fast reflexes. I instantly got up and ran far away before the animal did something to me. Later I came back for the clothes. I thank for I wasn’t eaten.

I used to walk a few kilometers every day to get to the school. I was so tired when I came here that I was always falling asleep during the lessons. So I asked the Holy Virgin for a bicycle. October 22, by a miracle, a really nice bike appeared near my door. I thank for this miracle from the bottom of my heart because it made me so happy.

My husband suffered from narcolepsy and fell asleep everywhere. I felt so embarrassed in front of our guests, and I was afraid he would lose his job. But thanks to my prayers to the Virgin of San Juan my husband got miraculously cured. I thank the Virgin <…>

My wife was very angry when I woke up late. She used to beat me with a rolling pin or pull the blanket off so I’d freeze and get up. But since my late grandfather left me a lot of money her character got softer. She doesn’t get angry anymore and doesn’t try to pull me out of the bed, so I can sleep as long as I want. I thank Saint Michael the Archangel.
