Saint Rita of Cascia, I offer you this ex-voto thanking you for not giving me diabetes because I got very much frightened when I was passing by drunk and the Death and the Devil himself appeared to me. I ran away to my house because my stomach was bursting. But then I realized it was the Day of the Dead and people dressed up like that to ask for sweets because it’s the tradition of all Mexicans. Viva la Catrina and those who celebrate the Day of the Dead!

Señora Sandra Robledo was constantly having a dream in which she was raped by two devils. She prayed a lot to Saint Pancras, and those nightmares disappeared. She brings the present retablo in gratitude for this favor.

Thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for the miracle that I arrived well to the Mexico City, along with the passengers who did confide in me. The bus lost its brakes as we approached Zihuatanejo and it went like it was driven by the devil. In such danger, I entrusted myself to you, promising this exvoto which I bring now.

When I was returning after having coated my brother-in-law’s house and with few drinks inside, the fucking devil appeared to me. I ran so fast out of there that I even sobered up. I asked the Holy Lord of Chalma to look after me and deliver me from the evil. Now I’m thanking and promise not to use an expression “Devil fucks your mother” ever again.

My Mother, I was dreaming about a man from my book for 10 days. He was dark and evil, he scared me, but he was handsome. I wanted him in my bed. A man from the market reminded me about this man, so I started to desire him. I prayed to you to help me with it, since I didn’t want to wallow in my desires. May you be blessed Mother because you sent me your love and power to overcome this desire.

We had to go to the town to sell milk. But some devils began to bother our donkey, and the poor thing didn’t know what to do. I implore the Virgin of Zapopan who came to help us. She made the donkey shake the annoying devils off and give them a couple of kicks afterwards. The demons ran away from this attack, and we could go sell our milk which miraculously didn’t spill.

I, Pilar Marmolejo, leave a testimony for such a strange event. It happened on July 18, 1975, when I was preparing to go to sleep. What a surprise it was to find a demon in flesh lying in my bed. With a sinister smile, he said that he’d like to have an intimate encounter with me. I immediately implored to the high benevolence of the Holy Virgin and kicked the devil out from my bed and my house by punching him with a broom.
