Thank you Virgin of Guadalupe for my son and I are together again. We were separated by the zero tolerance policy—he was sent to Texas and I was deported. I asked to protect him and to let me come back for him. And that happened 49 days later.

Saint Jude Thaddeus, I thank you for finding an inspiration in wrestling to create paintings with folk tradition and fantasies of my Mexico, to the world.

We thank God because volunteers and rescuers together with the Navy and especially this dog Frida managed to find alive and save four people from a building in Roma which collapsed from the 7.1 quake on September 19, 2017.

I thank God because on July 26, 2006 The Dogs of Evil won. Mr. Aguilla, El Terrible and my favorite The Son of the Dog Aguaya performed a master fight against El Mistico, Negro Casas and Rey Bucanero. They showed who rules at the Arena Mexico, although they weren’t favorites. “The Dogs don’t forgive”. I won the bet to my girlfriend because we both love wrestling.

Thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for granting us the joy of sharing our love as God wishes. Bless our way now and for ever.

January 6, 1957, the boy Esteban fell in a Xochimilco canal. His brother Juan rushed to help him. Seeing them both in water, I entrusted them to Saint Jude Thaddeus so he would give them enough strength to get out alive from this danger. They were saved, and I promised to bring this retablo for the received favor.

Thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for giving them the opportunity to cross the wall and to make their dreams of the family reunion and surviving together in California come true. It’s «chilango» who asked you to protect them.

Maria offers this retablo to the Virgin of the Solitude because Felipe asked my hand in marriage. My father wanted me to marry don ***, the storekeeper. I prayed to you because I was in love with Felipe, and now we are together.

To Lord of Chalma I prayed with all my soul so that he would help me to quit drinking. Every time I got drunk I beat my wife and kids with a belt. But I really love them. Thats’ why I quit drinking. Thank you for delivering me from this sin.

Lord of the Miracles, I offer you this retablo so you’d protect my grandson from rats and not let them bite him when he stays at home alone because my daughter goes to work. I came to visit them and found my grandson crying. I scared the rats away. They didn’t hurt him, and I will be always grateful for that.

May you be blessed, Virgin of Guadalupe, for Paloma and I met on these paths of the art and I was inspired with her glorious ecstasy. Look after her and bless her way because I will never forget her.

The crazy dreamer A. V. R.
Mexico City, February 10, 2006

My husband left me and went to the United States, and I didn’t get any news from him. I was left alone in this big city, without money. I began to work as a prostitute in the Merced district. I ask the Virgin of the Solitude to protect me.

The desperate one — June 7, 2000

How infinite those nights when you’re waiting your daughter who went for work. You’re waiting her to come back but she never will. Like many other women who were cowardly murdered here in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. Every night I pray God to rest her soul here on earth and in his kingdom in heaven. We won’t forget them.

Not one more. Mother’s pain.
