Our Lady from Talpa, I’m going to thank you for letting me get control of my legs again. I couldn’t walk for almost a year because of an accident when I fell down the stairs in my house. Nothing would help me, and I implored you. Now I’m leaving this wheelchair.

April 30, 1935, a tragedy happened with the boy Pedrito. He went to feed the pigs, and one of them bit his arm. In danger of losing his arm, the boy implored the Virgin of Carmel. She had mercy on him and granted him healing. I testify about her miracle in gratitude.

Blessed Holy Heart, thank you because he returned to me after—they were telling—he had gone to a woman but it wasn’t true. Now he’s here as you promised me.

We felt horror and anxiety of dying suffocating because of lack of air and terrible heat, locked up inside the trailer for more than four hours from Laredo to San Antonio, Texas. We made two holes with a knife to breathe a little bit because there were 70 of us, immigrants going to the United States in search of job. I thank the Virgin of San Juan because I managed to arrived alive to the destination. I pray for those who didn’t—let they rest in peace.

For all those who sin for love

I thank the blessed souls of the purgatory for meeting this precious woman. Her charm and experience gave me confidence and healed my painful affliction that made my masculine pride suffer. Now I can satisfy my wife without any trouble, and she never found out about my visits to this house of pleasures.

We were going to Veracruz when we were attacked at the Aljibes station. We abandoned the trains because the railroads were mined by the people of Obregon. We continued our way riding horses brought the sierra of Puebla. There were almost a hundred of us, loyal to Carranza. When we met general Rodolfo Herrera he led us to Tlaxcalantongo so we could rest. But at the dawn we heard screams “Viva Obregon! Death to Carranza!” and there he died. I testify to what happened. I entrusted his soul to God and I thank for I could escape through the sierra.

I swear I won’t drink anymore. R. C.

I thank the Lord of Chalma for giving me willpower to stop drinking and regain my wife’s love and my kids’ affection who forgave me the pain I caused them with this damned vice of mine when I was wasting all my money in the bar.

Virgin of Guadalupe, we thank you for we met each other 10 years ago in New York and made our love official. But today, after knowing about Donald Trump winning the US presidency, we decided to return to Mexico in fear of being deported and humiliated by his threatening and discriminatory ideas.

Virgin of Guadalupe, I thank you for protecting me from this terrible 7,8 quake. Realizing what was happening I ran to help to recover children from under this school’s debris until the navy and police arrived.

When I came back from mass with my daughter, my husband, full of rage, began to beat me out of jealousy telling me “Whom you’re going to see dressed up so nicely with this shawl?” He kept on beating me without any reason. Suddenly he fell back when his leg got tangled in my shawl. He stood up asking forgiveness. He said someone had pulled him back. Here I testify the miracle made for me by the Virgin of the Shawl because now my husband loves me very much.

Immigration police caught me when I was working without documents. They accused me of stealing and threw in a jail in Dallas, Texas, US. Finding myself in this trouble I implored the Protectress of the Mexicans, Our Lady of Guadalupe for my freedom. She worked me the miracle of proving my innocence. Now I give thanks and keep on working as it should be.

I dedicate this retablo and entrust this precious woman to the Holy Cross. Although she was a whore, she gave her life for the cause of the Mexican revolution. She died brutally slaughtered but taking out many federals with her.

Marieta, don’t be flirty
Because men are very bad
They promise lots of gifts
And what they give are pure hits.

Señor Paulino Sanchez thanks the Holy Child of Atocha. I found my son Felipe who got lost with the sheep in the mountains. I prayed to you to help me find him safe. Now, after having found him, I’m offering this retablo.
