I was a cake man at my friends’ wedding. When it was my time to carry it I got so nervous that I stumbled and threw the cake. I give thanks to Saint Martin de Porres for it didn’t fall on the bride and they took the whole incident with humor, although I had to pay twice and went to buy another cake.

It happened in 1953, during the running of the bulls in Huamantla Tlaxcala, Mexico. Young man Francisco de Marquez S. was running in front of the bulls, and one of them gored him. He was badly injured and, finding himself in this predicament, implored to Our Holy Virgin of Guadalupe. He got recovered promptly, and he left this testimony in the city of Puebla.

One day I was fumbling around the garbage dump and saw my dog Spike digging up something from the trash. I’m infinitely thanking the Virgin of San Juan for the thing I found was a gold Rolex watch. By selling it, my loyal friend and I ate like king for a good while.

My Pepito was a very naughty boy. He didn’t like to study at all. His teacher couldn’t stand him and was about to expel him from the elementary school. I thank Saint John Bosco because my boy changed a lot. Now he’s studying. Al least he scored 6 points in the exam, so he might pass to another grade, after three attempts.

I was riding my bike, because I like exercising at night, when I suddenly saw a strange light in the sky. I was curious and followed it. To my big surprise I discovered that it was a spaceship. I thank the Holy Child of Atocha for I managed to hid in bushes and the martians that were there didn’t see me.

I bring the present retablo to Saint Pascual Baylon who helped me with my tortillas when my mother-in-law had to visit us. They came out well and didn’t burn. She loved my dishes, and I thank for that.

One night, my sister Lupa and I were returning home from our aunt Josefina across de la Gloria ranch. Then two strangers started following us. They start hitting on us, and they seemed to have bad intentions. We got scared and entrusted our honor to the Virgin of Zapopan. She made so some workers from the ranch came on our way, and the strangers went away without attacking our virtue. We thank for that.
