I wanted to impress my neighbor whom I was attracted to. I climbed up a tree to save her kitten, totally forgetting that I have a fear of heights. I thank the Holy Child of Atocha because the firefighters arrived to bring me down, since I was so scared I couldn’t move. The cat meanwhile came down by itself giving me a great embarrassment in front of the people and the girl. I promise not to pretend to be brave anymore to avoid being a ridicule.

Holy Mother, Blessed Virgin of Calendaria, we are thankful. Our house got on fire, and our grandmother stayed inside. Thanks to the Virgin’s help, the firemen arrived in time to save my granny.

I dedicate this humble retablo to Saint Jude Thaddeus asking him for the eternal rest of hundreds of firefighters died trying to save people on that tragic September 11, 2001. I’m also asking for nothing of this kind would happen ever again.

My kitten Pepe is my only company because I didn’t marry and have no kids. That’s why, the other day when we had a fire in the building, I was very much preoccupied since I was outside and couldn’t get in and save him. I thank Saint Francis of Assisi for a brave firefighter risked his own life to save my kitten who is everything for me. May he be blessed.
