One warm evening I was swimming underwater on the beach in Ixtapa, Ziuatanejo. I was admiring the beauty of the sea when suddenly a shark started to chase me. And of course I saw the devil near by it. He told the shark to attack me. But I entrusted myself to the Virgin of Zapopan and managed to save myself.

We thank the Holy Face of God because we returned home after five days in the sea. We suffered shipwreck because of a terrible storm that caught us in the open sea. We entrusted ourselves to the Holy Face, and now we tell about the miracle that happened when we were counted as dead.

May you be praised, God and the Virgin of Guadalupe. I was swimming on the Zihuatanejo beach, when suddenly two mermaids dragged me to the bottom of the sea. I thought I was going to drown, because I had no air to breathe. Then one mermaid kissed me, and I fainted. When I awoke, I was lying on the sand on the beach.

Nicolas Hernandez offered this retablo to the Virgin of Guadalupe because she saved him from being eaten by the sharks when he was surfing at the beach while on honeymoon with his wife. When I noticed the danger, I entrusted myself to you and now I’m alive to tell about it.

My cousin and I discovered a place where the mermaids reunited. We noticed that they always returned over there to chat and play. So we had the idea to rent boats and bring tourists to look on the mermaids. Our business is going very well because everybody in the world wants to see such a wonderful show. And it seems we don’t bother the mermaids very much. We thank the Virgin of Zapopan for making us rich.
