Virgin of Zapopan

Whenever my husband has a gout attack, he becomes unbearable. He’s getting bored and asking me to bring him some absurd things to bed, and after a while he doesn’t need them anymore and asks me for other things. So I have to ran back and forth. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because the herbalist gave me a tea which prevent the attacks. And even if they happen thy don’t last so much. I’m much ore happier when I don’t need to look after my husband for long time.

Franck and Luis met at a party and little by little fell in love. The fervently asked the Virgin of Zapopan to give them strength to overcome the obstacles and to live together. And they made it.

When we began to sow our peace of land, hundred of black birds flew over and started eating the seeds we’d just sowed. We were desperate and didn’t know what to do. We entrusted ourselves to the Virgin of Zapopan and she made the miracle of chasing the birds to other side. She saved our crop.

June 3, 1928, I met two strangers near the ranch de la Tinaja. They tried to kill me. I entrusted myself to the Virgin of Zapopan, and she saved me. I bring this retablo in gratitude for this miracle.

Eusebia Maldonado was sick with fever, and many little red devils came to her. They climbed to Eusebia’s bed and pricked her with their tridents. She though she was going to die and the devils came to take her to hell. Although she had sinned, she didn’t think she’d sinned so much to suffer this harassment from the devils. She prayed the Virgin of Zapopan for protection, and the Virgin appeared in her splendor and scared the devils away. They left Eusebia in peace and ran back to hell.

There was a hole in the wall in our garden, and crocodiles from the river were getting through this hole. Some of them even came to the kitchen attracted by the tasty smells of my dishes. I didn’t like having crocodiles in the house, so I prayed the Virgin so my husband would fix the hole. He had been telling me for months he would do it but never did. I thank the Holy Virgin because my brother-in-law felt sorry for me and fixed the hole with stones and cement. Now we don’t have crocodiles anymore.

My daughter was very restless and curious girl. I couldn’t left her alone and was always worried about her. I was constantly watching her. Thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan we met a stray dog once and decided to foster it. Since that day this dang became my daughter’s nanny. The dog is always following and watching her so I can stop worrying about my daughter’s antics and highjinks. I know the dog would protect her.

I prepared some delicious food for the diner because my husband’s boss and his wife were invited. But then some damned squirrels got into the house through the window and ate everything. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because the dinner was canceled since the boss’ youngest son got sick with mumps.

Valentin Murillo almost died under a rockfall in the mountains. He thanks the Virgin of Zapopan for the miracle that no stone hit him or his donkey.

I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for looking after me and helping me to come back to my family. I went to the USA for work, and I’m happy to be back in my home country. Now I’m selling cotton candy at the town square, and the things are going well.

My son Paquito had a fever. He had hallucinations with skeletons that were flying around him. They laughed and wanted to take him with them. I was scared and I prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan, so she would bring down his temperature. Finally she heard my prayers. Carlitos had no more fever and even started to eat. I give thanks to the Holy Virgin.

My son Gregorio was slightly crazy. He made himself wings from chicken feathers and jumped off the highest tree. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for the miracle that he was able to flap his wings a little bit—enough to land without killing himself. Although he fell on a cactus and got hurt by the spines, he didn’t break his bones for which I infinitely thank.

I enjoyed going outside in the patio to read. One day a little girl came to me and asked me to read for her. Now I have many kids who come to listen me reading, and I love it very much. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because the children and the books alleviate my loneliness.
