When Marina Martinez was swimming in the sea, she had a congestion because she went swimming after having eaten. She lost her senses and went to the bottom because she swallowed a lot of water. But thanks to her devotion to the Virgin of San Juan the Virgin sent dolphins to help her. The dolphins took her out of the water and brought to the coast before she drowned.

My husband and my son were bewitched by a mermaid singing. These fools wouldn’t fish. They came back home with no fish. Finally they realized that we had nothing to eat or to sell at the market. We were dying from hunger. So then they put corks in their ears for not to be bewitched. They were able to fish again, and I thank the Virgin for we have food on our table again.

One morning, my brother and I went fishing. Suddenly two sharks appeared near us. We turned gray with fright, but that moment we implored Saint Peter for saving us from such a deadly danger. Little by little the sharks began to swim away. We bring this ex-voto, with all our faith and devotion.

Camilo Morales was swimming when he got cramp and went to the bottom of the sea. He felt his lung ruptured. In his delirium, he saw three mermaids that dragged him to the shore and gave him the necessary oxygen with their kisses. Camilo thanks the Blessed Sacrament for this miracle.

Samuel Rodriguez fell in love with two mermaids. They bewitched him with their songs. He didn’t eat, didn’t sleep, he didn’t work but spent all days long at the bottom of the lagoon until one day he saw them eating with their huge mouths full of teeth. He thanks the Virgin of the Rosary because it snapped the monsters’ spell.

A mermaid fell in love with my fiancé Jose Luis. She got so jealous, she grabbed my hair trying to take me to the bottom of the sea to drown me. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because she gave Jose Luis enough strong to pull me out, so I wasn’t taken by the mermaid.

We were on the beach when suddenly a giant octopus came out the sea and was about to grab Mariana with its tentacles. But thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe the music, that I played on the guitar, distracted the octopus and calmed it down. It listened while we slowly moved away with me keeping playing the octopus’ favorite melody.
