I testify for such a great miracle. On August 21, 1995, I was disputing the national welterweight title with Black Executioner. I was about to surrender because of pain, when I implored the intercession of the Tepeyac Mother. She gave me firmness to pull myself up and come out victorious.

It was a cloudy evening, and it was blowing hard. My wife had to give birth bolero due, but we lived far from the town. Our pickup truck broke down half the way. My wife had a terrible pain, and I carried her over the hills with the strong wind blowing me in the face. Our little daughter Teresita was behind us in the darkness without seeing where to go. I was exhausted, Josefina was in a lot of pain. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I invoked the Virgin of Guadalupe, and she gave me strength to go on on and get to the town. My son is called Lupe. I dedicate this retablo for her miracle.

My son Manuel had a congestion because he went swimming right after having eaten, and he fainted and went drowning in the sea. But thanks to the Virgin of the Rosary who sent a dog to save him from dying at the depth, the dog took him out right before he drown. Now my son is alright, and the dog has become his friend. He named her Chavita because she was his savior. We give thanks for such a miracle.

Notes:
Chavo is the nickname for those whose name is Salvador which means “savior”. Chavita is a diminutive of the feminine form of that nickname.

My husband changed for the worse. He began to visit bars and ladies of easy virtue. I was afraid to lose him, so I prayed to the Virgin so that he wouldn’t go a bad path. Finally I had an idea. I said to him that if he’d continue to behave naughty, I would not cook for him anymore. And I cook really good. He thought it over and broke off his bad habits. I thank the Virgin of San Juan.

Juan Nepomuseno from San Martin, Metepec, offers this retablo to the Virgin of Tepeyac because he and his family continue to do a beautiful work with clay by tradition of his forefathers which is the pride of his town.

When I was returning after having coated my brother-in-law’s house and with few drinks inside, the fucking devil appeared to me. I ran so fast out of there that I even sobered up. I asked the Holy Lord of Chalma to look after me and deliver me from the evil. Now I’m thanking and promise not to use an expression “Devil fucks your mother” ever again.

I, Gallo Tapado (Dark Rooster), give my faith and devotion to Saint Jude Thaddeus, the saint whom I dedicate my career at the ring and who has looked after me and my adversaries. For this I offer my humble homage and this retablo to express my gratitude.

April 16, 1974, my father and I were at the Arena Coliseo watching a wrestling match with El Santo, my greatest idol. I had suffered an accident which left me paralyzed. At the end of the event, Santo came down where we were and gave me one of his masks. Eventually, I began to walk again.

December 18, 1972, in Monterrey, I was fighting for the national championship. After two falls, I was feeling I couldn’t do it. But my faith in the Holy Heart gave me strength to win over my opponent. I wholeheartedly thank with this retablo.

I thank the Holy Virgin because I was deadly wounded in my heart by the contempt of a soulless woman who rejected my sincere love. I give you thousand thanks because you gave me peace and little by little healed the wounds in my heart. One day I’ll be able to love again.
