My son Luisito used to eat so little, and he was very weak and thin. I was worried about his health. One day our cat, who is a voracious eater by the way, got on the table and started to eat our food. My son laughed and started to eat from his plate like a cat. I decided to let the cat eat from the table if only it helped to Luisito to eat more. Even if he eats like a cat, with bad manners, I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because my son has put some weight and has even grown up a little bit.

Carolina Pardo had a fever. She saw that her husband is a goat. She got so frightened. She thanks Saint Barbara because now she’s better and she doesn’t see hallucinations anymore.

The Death in person came to my bedroom. Horrified, I prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan so that she’d scare the Death away. The Holy Virgin gave courage to my dogs, and they attacked the Death. The Death disappeared without taking me with it. I thank the Holy Virgin.

Since all my friends in the town had already got married, I thought of myself as an old maid. So I agreed to marry Rogelio Rios. He was ugly and corny, but he was the only one who asked for my hand. But on the day of the wedding I realized what a stupid thing I was going to do marrying the man I didn’t love at all. I ran out of the church and went to the capital in my wedding dress. I stayed with my friend Flora. Now I’m really happy and I have a good job. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary.

October 25, 1958, I was washing my baby boy and slipped on the soap. I fell and hit so bad, I couldn’t stand up. Only my prayers to the Virgin of San Juan brought me the desired relief in the few days.

The Sunday I made a tasty mole for my husband’s birthday dinner. But I dropped the pot, it fell and broke into pieces. The mole spilled on the floor. I felt miserable and didn’t know what to do because our guests were about to arrive. I was smitten with remorse so I entrusted myself to Saint Paschal. After that I picked up the mole in another pot. By the miracle it looked like it didn’t fall on the ground. On the contrary, it was tastier, and nobody became ill after eating it. I give thanks.

I thank the Virgin of Zapopan. When we moved to the coast, my daughter met new friends and was happy. Also she found her vocation in marine biology, since she loved turtles.

I had the bad habit of playing the Uruguayan Canasta. Some devils started to appear to me by nights. They were playing cards, and I understood it was a divine warning. I knew if I wouldn’t stop playing cards so often, I’d be damned. I prayed to Saint Barbara so that she would chase the devils away. And I promise her to play cards only on Thursdays. Thanks to my promise the devils didn’t come back again.

Margarita Peña was very nervous because of the arrival of her parents-in-law, who were coming from the capital. She broke the saucepan with the shrimp soup and burned the stew. Finding herself in such a disaster she entrusted herself to the mercy of the Virgin of San Juan. The Virgin made the parents-in-law miss the train and arrive the next day. Margarita gives thanks to the Virgin.

The Lopez brothers went fishing, and the sea snake appeared to them. They were petrified with fear. But their dog, that always went with them, started to bark and to grunt. The snake got scared and swam away. The brothers give thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan because the snake didn’t hurt them.

When I married Gregorio I didn’t know that besides being a kind man and a great lover he’s also a wonderful cook. He cooks almost every day, and I enjoyed all the food. I give thanks to the Virgin of San Juan for such a joy and for sending me my husband.

I have a dog who loves me and keeps me company. And I give her food and take care. I’m very happy. And now, when she’s had seven puppies, I’m seven times happier. I thank Saint Francis for this happiness.
