Virgin of Zapopan

My children are stupid and very careless. They liked to tease the don Simon’s bull so that the animal would chase them and they would have to run fast and in this manner could fly their kites better. I was very preoccupied about all this. I thought the bull might reach them and would hurt them. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because the bull finally got tired chasing them—since my children are too much stupid to listen to reason—so they stopped bothering the animal.

When I came out of my house to go to the church to marry my beloved Juan, I slipped on a banana peel that one of my sisters had thrown on the ground. There were a lot of puddles around because it had rained the night before, but the Virgin of Zapopan worked the miracle so I fell at the dry spot and didn’t soil my dress. To ruin my wedding dress few minutes before the most important moment of my life would’ve been horrible. I thank the Virgin because everything went well and I got married without problems.

The music teacher Laura Rodriguez suffered a lot because the girls in the school where she gave lessons were horrible and very unquiet. She thanks the Virgin of Zapopan because now she can retire and with this money—together with her savings—she thinks about buying a piano to give private lessons to people who appreciate the music and can sing.

I was washing my baby-boy in the river when I slipped on a stone and drop him in the water. He was taken by the current, I rush after him and I was amazed to find out that he was very happy swimming around. It was a wonderful miracle of the Virgin of Zapopan because it’s impossible for such a little baby to learn by himself how to swim. I thank the Virgin for saving my boy.

My daughter Josefina began sleepwalking. She went out and wandered around the town. I was afraid that something would happen with her, and because we couldn’t always look after her I prayed to the Virgin pf Zapopan for help. The Virgin worked the miracle. And since my daughter became the Ruben Magaña’s girlfriend she stopped walking in her sleep. We thank for this miracle.

My daughter had a fever. I prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan so that she’d cure her, and I fell asleep. Suddenly I was awoken by the soft sound of flipping wings. I opened my eyes and saw many glowing angels flying around my daughter’s bed. I though it was a dream. But the next morning my daughter had no fever and wanted to have a breakfast. Then I was certain it was a miracle of the Virgin who sent her angels to cure my girl. I thank the Virgin.

My husband loved his dogs so much he let them sleep in our bedroom. But then the dogs had their five puppies and it became totally unbearable. I prayed to the Virgin of San Juan for a solution. I thank the Virgin because my husband finally agreed to build a kennel for them. So now I don’t suffer from dog hairs and fleas.

I was taking bath in the river with my son. The baby boy slipped out of my hands and was taken by the current. I desperately swam after him. I was able to catch his ankle but then we both fell down a waterfall. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for the miracle that we didn’t get hurt.

After many years of relationships Heliodoro finally proposed to me. However, on the day of the wedding he changed his mind. Only thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan who whispered me about his runaway, I managed to catch him in time and brought him back to the church. We got married and now we are happy.

I took my girlfriend Mariana for a boat ride on the lake on the moonlight. But suddenly the monster who lives in water appeared and tried to abduct my girl and take her to the bottom of the lake. I thank the Virgin who gave me enough strength to hit the monster with the oar and to push him off the boat. We managed to row to the coast before the monster recovered from the blow.

I took my son to Tonala to visit his grandmother. We were coming back late at night. We were passing by the cemetery when we saw some skeletons getting over the cemetery fence. They began chasing us. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because some dogs came running. They smelled the bones and began to bite the skeletons’ legs. The skeletons finding themselves in danger ran back to the cemetery. And we managed to escape.

My mother and my grandmother taught my Carlitos to embroider. He created exquisite embroideries and was very enthusiastic about it. I was distressed and asked the Virgin of Zapopan to make so that my boy wouldn’t enjoy embroidery so much because if his father, who is a really macho, had found out that his son loved doing the women’s work he would’ve been furious. Thanks to the Virgin my son’s cousin taught him to ride a bicycle. Carlitos enjoyed it so much, he forgot about the embroideries.
