Virgin of Zapopan

My wife was a primary school teacher. She was teaching in second grade for many years but then she was moved to teach in third grade. She felt so distressed she began to give lessons in her sleep. And I couldn’t sleep listening about the monocotyledons and the dicotyledons. I couldn’t work either because of my lack of sleep. Then I implored the Virgin of Zapopan, and thanks to her my wife relaxed in few days. She doesn’t teach in her sleep anymore, and I can finally sleep peacefully.

I was walking down the old road with my children. Suddenly a thunderstorm began. I was afraid because I knew that the river bursts its banks and floods the road when it rains heavily. I prayed the Virgin of Zapopan, and we ran against the wind and rain splashing in our faces. Thanks to the Holy Virgin we get to the house and only got our clothes soaked. I thank for our protection.

My daughter Lourdes loves the music. She also likes the birds very much. When she’s playing her flute, the canaries began to sing, and also the parakeets and the cockatoos who sing very strangely but beautifully. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because my daughter is such a sensitive and talented girl.

My husband bought an enormous kite for our little son Guancho. But since he’s so small when he tried to fly the kite the wind took up the kite but lifted him up of the ground as well. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because she looks after my son, so the kite dragged him just for few meters, then he landed down. The boy wasn’t hurt, he was frightened and happy of having flown.

Señora Nadina was having breakfast at the terrace of her fazenda when came the nagual with big ears who bared his teeth and was breathing warmly. She thanks the Virgin of Zapopan because the nagual only wanted to eat the apple tarts from the table and not her.

Since I began my diet I felt somehow very uncomfortable walking. After losing little bit of weight I began to levitate unexpectedly. Sometimes it happened while I was sleeping, but other times it happened while I was cooking. Being up there I couldn’t remove the stew from the fire and it got burnt. I was really afraid it could happen outside on my way to the church and the people would think that I’m a loony flying like a balloon up there. I prayed the Virgin, and thanks to her I don’t rise up anymore. I only feel sometimes more lightness in my legs but they don’t take off from the floor.

One evening I heard my cats being very restless. When I looked at them I was quite surprised to see the little red devils torturing my cats to divert themselves. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for giving me strength to sweep those damned creatures out so I could liberate my cats from suffering.

Carlota Valdez got slightly sick and went to bed early. Suddenly she saw that she was being attacked by red devils who began to torture her with their tridents. She prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan, and the Virgin sent a group of angels to chase the devils away. The devils ran away scared of their luminous presence.

One day I was doing laundry on the river and fell asleep. Suddenly I was awoken by my dog barking, and I saw some martians trying to tie me up and take me to their ship. I started screaming. The extraterrestrials got scared and ran away leaving me. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for my dog woke me up in time and, I think, even bit one of those martians.

I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for having sent me the warning about a hailstorm coming. Having this presentiment, I had time to put all my animals inside the house. Otherwise, they would have suffered and got sick outside. Together we passed a calm night, warm and safe.

When we were coming back home from the town fair, we met a headless horseman on our way. The sight of the ghost made our hair stand on end and our blood freeze in the veins. But the Virgin of Zapopan protected us, and the horseman passed by without seeing us and didn’t do anything to us. But the next day we saw that our hair turned gray from fright.

We live far from the town, and my little son had no kids in the neighborhood to play with. One day he told me he got a friend. I thought it was an imaginary friend, but then I saw, to my surprise and fear, that it was a big nagual whom he played with. The creature looked friendly but any way I felt scared and prayed to the Virgin asking for help. The help came when the daughter of our close neighbor Don Romo came to live with him with her three children who made friendship with my son. The nagual got scared with so many people and didn’t approach my son again. Next year my son will go to school, and he’ll have many more friends.
