When I play my violin everything around me fade away. I remain alone with the music, we’re in another world. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary for this gift to bring out wonderful sound from a piece of wood with strings.

I used to love to reunite with my friends on Thursdays to play cards. Then we began to play really high stakes, and I got this feeling of gambling. One time I almost lost my husband’s car. Fortunately, I won that round, although I was frightened. I realized I’m addicted to gambling and I can stake anything to play. I promised to the Virgin if she helps me I would cook sweets every time I have temptation to play again. The Virgin gave me strength, and I do not play anymore but have opened a pastry shop.

My donkey Pancho is very stupid. One day he crossed the railroad right before an approaching train. Only thanks to the miracle of Saint Francis, the engineer decided to stick out his head to look around and saw my donkey. He hit the brakes in time so the train didn’t run over the poor animal. I offer this retablo to the saint.

I had a monotonous life and a tedious job, and even my husband whom I love dearly is a boring man. That’s why I thank the Virgin of San Juan for opening the magical world of the books. I didn’t enjoy reading until one day I was given a very captivating book to read. I was overwhelmed with the stories, and I’ve seen reading ever since. Even my dreams are full with adventures and I travel to distant and magical lands. Now I’m always in great mood.

My girlfriend’s parents didn’t like me visiting her. So I secretly started to climb a ladder to get to her balcony. But one night my mother-in-law accidentally pushed the ladder when she opened the kitchen window to scare some dogs fighting near the house. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary, because my mother-in-law was smitten with remorse, so I’ll be able to visit my girlfriend as soon as I get out of the hospital.

My son Jose was playing an angel in a school play, and his rope broke down. He fell down, hit his head and lost his conscience. When he woke up he decided he was really an angel. I payed to the Virgin of Zapopan so that my son came back to his senses. Three days later, the Virgin worked a miracle and Jose got his memory back. I thank the Virgin because otherwise his behavior was very dangerous while he was being an angel—he was constantly trying to fly off the roof.

I thank Saint Isidor the Labourer because it’s finally raining after a long drought. Now my cows won’t die from thirst and hunger without grass and water.

I was always followed by the dogs when I went out. I thought it happened because I went to the market and they wanted some food. But then I noticed that they followed me anywhere. Maybe because I care about them, talk with them and sometimes, if I can, I leave them something to eat. I thank the Virgin of San Juan for having a way with dogs.

When I was fishing one night, my boat started to sink. The sea was filled with sharks. I was scared and began to pray the Blessed Sacrament for help. They made the miracle and send me a giant bird which pulled me out of the water before I was attacked by the sharks. I thank the Blessed Sacrament.
