Virgin of Guadalupe

Holy Mother Virgin of Guadalupe, queen and protectress of the Mexicans, I offer you this retablo because you helped me with my work as a mariachi here in Garibaldi. In such difficult moments like those our country is going through, the music makes one forget about problems and brings joy into the heart of your beautiful and beloved Mexico.

I married my beloved Aurelio and right after the wedding we went to his town on his horse. I loved him very much. Nevertheless, I was sad to leave my home town and my family. But then I saw my dog Canelo following us. I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for this miracle because when I saw the dog I could tie my old and my new lives together for a moment.

I have no home. And the Virgin looks after my stuff since I’m living on the street. Thanks.

I stopped putting my rooster in fights because we both became old. But I suddenly found myself with a lot of debt and had no opportunities to pay them off. So I asked my rooster if he could fight for the last time during the big feast in Palenque and try to win the grand prize. The rooster agreed to do so. During the fight the enormous enemy-rooster tried to kill my rooster. I prayed the Virgin of Guadalupe. Thanks to her my rooster won. He got some wounds but he survived. We have payed the debts and there are enough money left for living the rest of our lives.

We were invaded by UFOs. The Virgin looked after us, and nothing bad happened.

A being from another galaxy painted the field and the cows. However, it didn’t hurt them. Thanks.

I was in my bed with a light fever. Suddenly I saw skeletons around me. They began to perform a complex choreography and asked me to join their absurd dance. I prayed the Virgin of Guadalupe so she would save me from dancing skeletons and would drive them away. I closed my eyes for a moment, and when I opened them turned out that the Virgin worked the miracle. I was in my bed feeling much better, and my illness was gone.

When we were coming back from the evening mass we met a carriage with two skeletons in it. We thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for they didn’t notice us and continued their ride in the darkness. We came home safe and sound.

Virgin of Guadalupe, we thank you for not letting me to lose my fingers when I slipped while grinding meat. I ask you to bless this butcher shop and don Joaquin who is very kind to me.
