In 1940, in Barrio de los Sapos in Puebla, Remigio Gomez crashed his car into a light pole. He thanks the Child of Atocha because he only smashed his snout and lost his teeth.

I implored the Virgin of Guadalupe so that my husband Pepe wouldn’t lose his fingers when he cut himself with the knife while working in the butcher shop. I give thanks because he is alright and didn’t lose his fingers.

At the Christmas party in the neighborhood, I put too much liquor in my punch. Since I was getting tipsy, I came where doña Juanita was about to hit the piñata and she gave me such a tremendous kick in the head that I even saw stars. I give thanks to the Lord of the Wonders because nothing serious happened to me and I only got a lump. I promise not to drink so much on December holidays.

Ruperta Canseco brings this retablo to Saint James giving thanks for she met the painter Frida who helped her to bring her son to the doctor when he received a blow in the balls from a mule.

Cayetana Pantoja was cooking mole at the kitchen, when a dog ran chasing a cat and overthrew the pot with boiling mole on her legs. Through this retablo, she thanks Saint Paschal because the burns were minors.

Before the New Year, I stumbled and injured tendons in my leg. By the evening the foot got swollen and hurt very much. I was swinging my healthy leg and was afraid of amputation. But then my friend Anna Rocheva came, and she cured my leg with massage. Thanks to Anna and my Guardian Angel for helping me to meet the New Year in good condition.

On July 23, in the fight of super stars at the arena of the annual fair of Tulancingo, Hgo, I was surprised by Black Abyss who did a hammer move on me. Finding myself so badly hurt I asked you, Saint Jude Thaddeus, to look after me so nothing bad would happen to me. And today, few days later, I give thanks to you with this because I’m fine.
