On a windy day, the sea waves brought me a handsome man who became the love of my life. I thank Saint Barbara for bringing to my beach the man who will be my husband and my partner for ever.

My husband Tomas smoked marijuana, didn’t work and didn’t pay me any attention. So I prayed to Saint Barbara and she gave me enough courage to give him an ultimatum. It worked—now he’s working.

A giant spider used to build his web over my bed every night, and it looked me down with its devil eyes. At the mornings there was no spider. I cleaned up the web, but the next night it started all over again. Finally, after many prayers to Saint Barbara, I had a dream—the saint pierced the spider with her sword. So the next night the spider didn’t come. I thank for that.

My children were playing on the beach, and my daughter’s doll was taken by a wave. My daughter is a good swimmer so she dived after her doll. But she got tangled in some seaweed and couldn’t get out. I ran to that place where she disappeared but Saint Barbara made so that our brave dog rushed there before me and dragged my girl to the shore pulling by her clothes. I thank the Saint for such a wonderful dog who is a real hero.

I had the bad habit of playing the Uruguayan Canasta. Some devils started to appear to me by nights. They were playing cards, and I understood it was a divine warning. I knew if I wouldn’t stop playing cards so often, I’d be damned. I prayed to Saint Barbara so that she would chase the devils away. And I promise her to play cards only on Thursdays. Thanks to my promise the devils didn’t come back again.

My sister and I went swimming. Suddenly we were caught by a giant octopus. It grabbed us with its tentacles and dragged us into the depth. I felt that our lives were in danger, so I prayed to Saint Barbara. She helped us blowing a lot of bubbles that distracted the octopus. He let us free, and we swam to the shore. We thank for saving our lives.

My friend Rebeca was going to get married under pressure of her parents. I thank Saint Barbara because few moments before the wedding I convinced her not to marry. I told her that instead of making the biggest error in her life she’d better come to live and study with me in the capital. We thank Saint Barbara.
