The neighbor’s dogs came and eat up the dinner that I was preparing, while I went to answer the phone. I was very angry and I began kicking them out with a broom. But then I saw their hungry faces, and it touched my heart. Now I bring the leftovers to the patio so the dogs could eat, because my neighbor starves them.

The Day of the Dead, in front of the tavern, some skeletons asked me to take them in my carriage for a romantic ride under the moonlight. Since I was pretty drunk and they offered me enough money, I agreed to take them. I thank the Virgin of San Juan for it didn’t occur to them to take me to their graves at the dawn.

I thought my husband snored a lot. I couldn’t stand this noise. But one day when my husband was away I heard the same snore. I looked under my bed in fear and found out it was a house demon who slept calmly and snored with all his might. I sprinkled some holy water under the bed, and the devil ran away frightened. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because the devil didn’t come back. My husband is also grateful to the Virgin because he thought that it was me who snored.

The Luis and Manolito Martinez’s dog had puppies, but the boys’ father threw them out. Thanks to Saint Francis the boys found the puppies in an alley when they were on their way to the school. They were able to save them because the dog of one of their classmates adopted them. Now the puppies are big and strong.

I married a widower and on our wedding night I found out that every time I looked in a mirror I reflected in it as a skeleton. That was because my husband’s first wife had bewitched the house. I was scared and prayed to the Holy Child with the Ball. Afterwards I ordered three requiem masses. She has rested in peace, and I thank the Holy Child.

When my husband went to work at the north, I felt very lonely and started to play guitar outside at night. Little by little my music attracted all the cats from our neighborhood. They came to listen me, and they were captivated by my music. My music affected not only the cats. Out of nowhere every time came the little boy and started to play his flute. And when he finished he went away without saying anything. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan for this big company I have now.

I thank Saint Anthony because my mother finally approved my fiancé Dagoberto Martinez and now we can get married on May 18, 1950.

Six years after I became a widow, I married a prosperous watchmaker. But then I, being very nervous and accustomed to the silence, went crazy because of constant ticking and beating of dozens of clocks. I couldn’t sleep and I was always stressed. I even had a nervous breakdown. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because my husband, who loves me very much, noticed my anxiety and took all those damned clocks from the house to his workshop.

My daughter Maria helped me with the laundry on the riverbank. She slipped on a stone, fell down to the bottom of the water. But the Virgin of the Ball sent two brave dogs to save her before she drowned. I thank the Virgin for the miracle, and now these two dogs live in our house.

My dogs had five cute puppies. They were all so different so I decided to have all of them. I thank Saint Francis because my house is big enough and has a garden and I have enough money to keep all my dogs.

My wife couldn’t have children and she suffered because she wanted a baby so much. We prayed Saint Raymond for a miracle, and the saint, in his infinite kindness, sent us two healthy twins. We thank Saint Raymond.

We thank the Virgin of Zapopan because, although the goat is very stubborn and the pig doesn’t like to walk and we had to carry it, we managed to bring them to the animal blessing.

My life was tedious and my job was boring. But one day I was given a book. I liked it so much, I began to read more. Now I have wonderful dreams about fantasies and adventures. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary for discovering the wonderful world of books.
