17 <…> 1969 hundreds of spiders started falling from the dry wood that was in front of the house. They fell on my little son Juanito and bit him. I entrusted him to Saint Michael the Archangel and the boy only had fever but recovered quickly. We dedicate this retablo to Saint Michael because he protected my son from the spider venom.

My donkey Clavelina got sick and I had to take the mule to go to the town to sell the flowers. The mule was very stubborn and bad-mannered. On the slope of the hill he no longer wanted to walk. No matter how much we pulled and pushed him, he didn’t move. Only after we asked Saint Francis for help we managed to made him go. So we arrived to the town and sold the flowers. Also I give thanks to the saint because he healed my Clavelina who is a very joyful and obedient donkey.

The vegetable garden of the Rios sisters, Rosa and Catalina, was flooded with rabbits. They ate everything but the sisters didn’t dare to kill these little creatures of the Lord. So they prayed to Saint Francis to take the rabbits under his control. The Saint heard them and the rabbits never came back.

The Felipe Gonzales’s horse was scared by a viper and in spite of all Felipe’s efforts fell down from the cliff. Only thanks to the miracle of the Virgin of Guadalupe they didn’t hurt themselves and didn’t brake the bones.

The Hernandez sisters’ mother was very sick. They were very worried and prayed to the Virgin of Guadalupe for a miracle. And the miracle happened when Adela suddenly started to scatter luminous powder and small stars from her hands. It all floated by the room and shined like tiny sparks only much more beautiful. They wrapped around the sick mother and her sleep became calmer. Next morning she woke up healed. Her daughters give thanks for this miracle.

The Reyes brother hated me because of the quarrel about borders of our lands. One day they made an ambush to kill me when I would ride my horse near by. But the Virgin of Zapopan always protected me and that day she gave wings to my horse. The horse galloped faster than ever before. I arrived to the village and hid in the church. So I saved my life.

On our way to our grandmother Remigia, who lives above the hill, strong wind arose. And it was so strong and blew us off our feet that my sister Soledad lost her balance and fell off the cliff. But by a miracle of the Virgin of the Rosary her shawl got tangled on a jutting branch and stopped her from falling down. I managed to save her while I left my little brother and sister gripping a tree. After that the Virgin helped us to arrive to the grandmother’s house.

My stove had been possessed by the fire devils. Every time when I started cooking they tried to burn me causing big flames. I prayed to Saint Paschal Baylon to take these devils away from me. Following his advice I asked father Jose to bless my firewood. After that the devils left and didn’t return.

After five years of engagement with Antonio I wanted to get married but he still didn’t make up his mind. All my friends were already married and had children. And I felt like an old maid. I give thanks to Saint Antony because when Jose Pacheco started to visit my home and began to send me flowers, Antonio reacted immediately and asked me to marry him. Our wedding was beautiful and now I’m very happy.

The dog of my neighbors had puppies. But after they were given away the dog was disconsolate. So when she saw my baby sunbathing in our yard she thought it was one of her puppies. And she took the baby with her. I give thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan because I noticed it in time before the dog would feed my little girl with a dog milk.

The day when we married, we were so happy that when we came out of the church, we took our hands and we just ran away leaving all the people behind. There were just the two of us loving each other so much. We thank to the Virgin of Zapopan for our great love and happiness that even birds came to the church singing for us.
