I thank the Virgin of San Juan for I have found a partner who also adores cats. Because I can’t live without them.

I thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for all triumphs you granted to my wrestling idol—El Santo, The Silver Mask. I’ll keep telling his story because the art will never die.

We lived in a desolated place outside of the city, but the price was cheap. I felt fear when I had to walk to our house after work. One day a stray dog followed me. I tried to chase it away but when the dow look at me with its sad eyes, I let it go along. It accompanied me to the house and stayed with us. We bathed it and I even bought it a red color. Now the dog meets me every day at the bus stop when I get home from work and goes with me to the house. It does the same with my sister. We thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for this warm company.

I never forget that morning of September 19, 1985, when my little son and I were surprised by that terrible earthquake. It threatened to destroy the building we used to live in. I’ll be forever grateful to Saint Jude Thaddeus for protecting us. I entrusted ourselves and he saved our lives. Now I can actually see that my boy grew up in a good man.

Oh Saint God, thank for it was only a dream when the damned devil appeared to me and entered through the window. I ask for forgiveness and I swear I won’t cheat on my husband anymore.

I dedicate this retablo to the Virgin Protectress thanking her for I finally got an automatic 8-mm Kodak camera. It has an electronic sensor which tells the exposure automatically. Scene by scene, I can shoot films with rich colors without any worries. The f/1.6 lens gives a bright bokeh, and with every roll of film I get up to 40 scenes of normal duration. I really enjoy my camera.

Socorro Aguilar dedicates this humble retablo to Saint Isidor Labourer because she’s doing well selling her flowers to the tourists who pass in Xochimilco by trajineras boats. She makes their day with beauty and colors.

That day, February 13, 1944, the bull Zapatero hooked Silverio Perez between his legs and threw him over the head on the ground. Silverio got hurt badly. Then the bull kept dragging him all over the arena. We were all praying the Virgin of Guadalupe for Silverio. We were feeling his pain as ours because he had brought glory to us. We thanks for Silverio is recovered.

The Death came to our fruit shop and sat there. We ran away in fear praying to the Virgin so the the Death wouldn’t take us. We thank the Virgin of Guadalupe because the Boney ate a watermelon and then went away without touching us. We thank for saving us.
