I give thanks and dedicate this retablo to the Virgin of Candelaria. Since my boyfriend left me no man looked at me. But now every morning when I wake up there is a very handsome older man near my window who stares at me.

I give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe because I survived and bore our Standard of Zapatista Army at the Triumphal Parade to the National Palace in Mexico where my general, don Emiliano Zapata, and general Francisco Villa received a great ovation from the people. I proudly present this retablo that depicts that day, December 6, 1914. May the Virgin protect us who are fighting in the Revolution under her protection.

Amalia and Roberto were kissing under a tree and suddenly heard a crying. They saw the Weeping Woman who was coming in their direction in search of her children. They knew that the ghost sometimes took people thinking they were her children. Amalia and Roberto were scared that she would grab them with her long nail and would take them to the world beyond. But thanks to the Virgin of Zapopan, whom they entrusted to, the ghost didn’t noticed them and passed through. They only heard how her crying fade away in the woods.

It took me several days to write the report for my boss. A strong wind blew all the pages away, and only thanks to the miracle of the Virgin of Guadalupe I managed to collect them.

Thanks to Saint Katherine I found a very good “all inclusive” vacation package to the Dominican Republic.

Bartolo and Jaime Aguirre give thanks to Saint Peter for an incredible fishing season. So now they are going to buy a new motorboat.

On the way down my bus’ brakes broke down. I entrusted myself and my passengers to the Virgin of San Juan. Thanks to her at the end of the slope I managed to brake and slacken the speed. I give thanks with this retablo for escaping a terrible accident.

Susana Ruiz was attacked by two skeletons at the cemetery. She entrusted herself to the Virgin of Guadalupe and now give thanks because she managed to get away from them, although one skeleton bit her arm.

My late wife was very jealous. When I got married again, several years after her death, suddenly her ghost started to appear by nights. Her face was angry and she wanted to strangle me. I was scared and prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan so that she would rest her soul. Thanks to the Virgin the ghost never appeared again and rested in peace, I hope.

I give thanks to Magdalena who let me paint her and tell about her life. I ask Saint Jude Thaddeus to guard and protect her and to bless her life.

It happened one night in October 1990 on the street corner in the blessed city of Mexico.

The Ruiz brothers, Juan and Gustavo, worked as butchers and liked to flirt with the female clients. One day they liked the same girl and they fought with knives over her. They thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for they didn’t kill one another and promise to go in therapy.

The teacher Maria Molina always fell asleep in class because she had insomnia at night. The school principal threatened to fire her if she would continue to sleep because the children made noise and were very naughty while she was sleeping. Maria was afraid and prayed to the Virgin of San Juan. And by the miracle now she sleeps at night like a baby and never sleeps in class.

I give thanks to Saint Anthony who always protected me so I could continue to do this job. It helps me to support my kids so they will have a good education and will become worthy people.
