In memory of that morning of September 19, 1985, when an earthquake shook the Mexico City. I know if God let me live it was to save people and help the others. That’s why I thank Saint Jude Thaddeus who interceded for me, and I’m dedicating this for those who were in those Juarez apartment buildings and for those who aren’t with us anymore. I’m here to tell about it.

Thanks to Saint Jude Thaddeus because he made possible the election of Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President of North-American United States. To celebrate his election and the MLK birthday, I dance and sing with mariachi at the Paseo de la Reforma near the American embassy.

Alejandra R. and Alberto M. were fucking at the cemetery, and the dead attacked them. They thank Saint Jude, with the present retablo, because they managed to escape. They promise not to get in sacred places.

Saint Jude Thaddeus, I’m going to thank you for delivering me from a difficult situation and for I was able to hide in time so my buddy didn’t catch me with his wife in his bed. I offer you this because he never found out that we were putting horns on him. I swear I won’t do it again. Forgive me because the body is weak.

Health, wisdom and strength

Saint Jude, my other believes in you very much, that’s why I dedicate you my hair so you would help her to overcome her cancer. Thanks for curing her and leaving her with us. Do not leave her.

My son Manuel went to New York few years ago looking for a job. After much struggle, he managed to open his own small taco shop. But few weeks ago he got sick with coronavirus. I thank Saint Jude Thaddeus with this exvoto because he’s already recovered and got out from the hospital. I beg for the health of the Mexican fellow countryman who are infected and are suffering so far from their land and their families.

I dedicate the present exvoto to Saint Jude Thaddeus for the great talent of the painter David Alfaro Siqueiros. His vision of social problems and his particular style of capturing the working masses, workers and peasants made him, along with Rivera and Orozco, a distinguished figure of the muralism.

Because of the coronavirus, my husband was left without a job. Now he spends his days behind the computer watching videos on Youtube and video conferencing with his buddies. He doesn’t lift a finger to help me around the house or with our baby, with the excuse that he’s depressed. I beg Saint Jude Thaddeus, with this retablo, to end quickly this quarantine and to make my husband’s depression—as he says—go away so he could go out looking for a job and become responsible again.

Juana Ramirez, Mexico

Thanks to Saint Jude Thaddeus because my girlfriend’s mother miraculously didn’t find me hiding in the closet despite that the closet door didn’t close and the dog couldn’t stop barking at me. She only told my girlfriend off and after that we spent the rest of the night together.

Mexico City, 2009

Give me strength, Saint Jude, to get in a good shape with the exercise.
