Virgin of Guadalupe

I prayed to the Virgin of Guadalupe so much for saving me from these terrible nightmares. I was suffering from a repeated dream about being brutally raped by devils. The Virgin heard my prayers and now I sleep calmly and peacefully. I dedicate this retablo in order to thank the Virgin.

San Antonio Aguas Calientes, 1959

Virgin of Guadalupe, it was the most beautiful scene I’d ever seen. I went to the beach to swim and saw two beautiful mermaids. One was singing like an angel, and the other one was in love. I don’t want to drink tequila ever again.

A horde of naguals was passing by the field. I thank the Virgin for I didn’t go mad.

Antonio thanks the Virgin of Guadalupe because his dog El Canelo protected him from a robber who got in his house while Antonio was sleeping. So the dog saved Antonio and his family.

Thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for your great favor! One evening, I was at the seashore on the Rosario beach in Baja California. Suddenly my kitten Nicolas fell out of my hands. But then a beautiful mermaid appeared and give him back to me safe and sound.

One quiet evening, I was fishing and fell asleep. I don’t now if it was true or in my dream, when I saw a beautiful mermaid who wanted to kiss me. But in a moment I couldn’t see her.

My daughter used to get sick a lot, and she didn’t have a lot of friends. I couldn’t see her so sad, so I prayed to the Virgin. My daughter began to read more, and now she’s happy in the world of books and fantasies. I thank the Virgin.

We moved to a new place. The land was barren and fruitless. There were no plants, no flowers which I loved so much. I tried to plant something but the soil was so dry nothing was growing. But one day wonderful peacocks came out of nowhere. They had colorful plumage, and some time later a grass and an apple tree grew up on the spot where they started to live. That’s how our petrified garden became a blooming paradise. I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe for this amazing miracle.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe. I came to Mexico City from Aguascalientes to become a matador. Two years later, I had a performance in a town in Guerrero. During the fight I stumbled and I fell right on the bull’s horn. It pierced through my ribs, I got head injury and brain concussion. I thank for my recovery.

I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe. I prayed so much, and she worked a miracle and my favorite wrestler El Santo won.
