I thank the Virgin of San Juan for the miracle of having a good harvest and that I was able to buy donkeys to carry my goods to the market. I dedicate this retablo in gratitude.

It happened to señor Victorino Mejia, an ordinary man from San Martin Texmelucan, Puebla, who went to the celebration, that he drank a lot and got drunk. On his way back he laid to sleep under a tree. Some vultures came and started flying over him. He entrusted himself to the Holy Virgin of San Juan, and she scared the vultures away. Victorino dedicates the present retablo in gratitude and promises to never drink again.

I wasn’t a good swimmer, and a sea current dragged me to open sea. I felt lost among this immensity of water. I tried to swim, then tried to scream but nobody heard me. I was doubting that I could survive when suddenly out of nowhere a beautiful dog appeared there, in the middle of the sea. He dragged me to the shore. I could explain this only as a miracle of the Virgin of San Juan who always look after me. I give thanks for this angel who saved me.

My wife used to sleep with the dogs. Thanks for she dropped this habit.

1917, near de la Rosa ranch in Puebla, two farmhands had a bad idea to send me to the cemetery. I entrusted myself to the Virgin of San Juan and managed to save my life. I infinitely thank for that.

In times of the Revolution, there was a very tough battle in my village, and I became an orphan. One day I met the general Emiliano Zapata himself and humbly asked him for help. I thank the Virgin of San Juan for having sent him to me, because he took me with him and gave me many advices that made me into a hardworking, loyal and brave man.

April 9, 1968, the house of Maria Perez got on fire. She thanks the Holy Virgin of San Juan for no-one from her family was hurt and they even managed to save some things.

I thank the Virgin of San Juan because I managed to sell all my turkeys and to buy two pigs. Then I sold the piglets they made and bought a goat and some laying hens.

My son Jesus lost in the mountains with the donkeys. My daughters and I are thankful to the Virgin of San Juan because four days later, after many our prayers, Jesus found his way back home. A beam of light guided him out and he returned safe and sound as well as his donkeys.

Cayetana Dominguez was about to give birth and felt really bad because she had been scared by fighting carransistas. She thanks the Virgin of San Juan for her baby was born without complications.
