My mother-in-law Tamborina Sanchez Aldama used to put false ideas in my wife’s head. She was telling her that I might have another family, that I was flirting with other women, that I was spending all my money for booze, and other stupid things. One day she was in hurry to get to our house to tell my wife that I had a son on the side. But she had an accident at the corner. There were sewerage works going on and she didn’t notice an opened manhole which she fell into. She was in come when they got her out. I thank Saint Sebastian de Aparicio for that. Now her lies won’t ruin my marriage. Besides, everything she had been telling about me eventually turned out to be just fantasies in her head—which by a true miracle doesn’t function anymore.

My neighbors were gossiping that my friend tried to seduce my husband. One day when I met her during my laundry I grabbed her hair. Thanks to Saint Raymond, those rumors were lies. I made up with my friend, and the gossiping neighbors won’t upset us anymore.

Rogaciano R., Panfilo N. and Silverio J. thank Saint Raymond Nonnatus for having finally made up. The girlfriend of one of them was spreading some rumors which led to a huge fight between them. They didn’t want to know each other. But then they found out it was only a lie. As a consequence, they realized they don’t have any interest in women anymore.

I was a very gossipy woman. Every time I went to the market it was about gossiping around. But one day, as soon as I arrived at the market, I felt a strong sulfur smell. Then I had a horrible apparition with wings and horns. Oh my God, it was the devil himself. Frightened as hell, I would never gossip again nor would I talk badly about any person. Thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Gumara Tecanguey found herself in grave danger. Her husband was about to shoot her because of evil tongues telling him that she’d cheated on him. She thanks the Virgin of the Solitude for protecting her and her husband couldn’t prove anything.

I thank the Holy Virgin of Fatima and dedicate her this retablo because the paternity test verified that Vicentico is my biological son. There were some rumors around the neighborhood that he has a big head and dark eyes like my neighbor Armando does. But now nobody will mock me anymore.

Sara Gonzalez gossiped a lot. And one day her neighbor smeared the Sara’s face with shit. That gave her an eye infection. She thanks Saint Raymond for her recovery and promises to reform.

Carlota Valdez fell ill with fever. The night she felt pricks. She saw a lot of little red devils. They jumped on her bed and pricked her with their tridents. Carlota thought it was the end and the devils came after her because she used to gossip a lot with her friend Lupe. Carlota prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan promising not to gossip again if the Virgin would save her. The Virgin sent a ray of light that frightened the devils. They disappeared, and the next morning Carlota woke up alive and feeling better.

My daughter’s enemies spread rumors and confabulate all kinds of dirty stories about her in order to malign her honor and person. Then I implored Saint Raymond’s help, who sowed dissension among the enemies. They began to fight with each other and left my daughter in peace. I thank for that.

Because of rumors my father didn’t accept my boyfriend and even forbade me to see him. But I still met with him secretly. However, one night my father caught us in my bedroom. He was furious, he grabbed his pistol to shoot my boyfriend. I implored Saint Raymond Nonnatus to not let a tragedy happen. The pistol misfired, and my boyfriend managed to escape. Afterwards, I spoke with my father, and he finally accepted our engagement. Now he doesn’t believe any rumors, and I thank for that with this ex-voto.
