When I was on vacation in Veracruz I met Manuel. We had such a good time together that I fell in love with him. I prayed to The Holy Child of Atocha for a miracle, and Martin agreed to live with me at my house. He knew that I’m not a woman, and he accepted me as I am. Here I‘m showing that beautiful day.

With this retablo I want to thank the blessed French Interior Ministry that diagnosed me with deafness and exempted me from military service. Deafness that I really didn’t have. Okay, maybe a little bit.

I thank the Virgin of Juquila for the viagra, so my painful illness went away and I could satisfy my wife in bed. Since no medicine had helped me before, I entrusted myself to you and tried the viagra. We’re very happy now, and our marriage is saved.

I was robbed by a bandit who took my money and my horse and left me wounded in the field. I felt life leaving me through my wound. I entrusted myself to the Saint Michael Archangel, and then the Padilla brothers, who were passing by looking for the lost livestock, found me. They took me to the doctor. I thank for that miracle of Saint Michael that saved my life.

I give thanks to you, Virgin, for helping me to bear all that enormous weight on my shoulders.

We had a trouble-making broad in our neighborhood. She attacked anybody for the least thing. We tried even not to look at her to avoid problems. I prayed to the Virgin of Regla so that she’d keep her in hand. Then she moved out from our neighborhood. I thank the Virgin because our life is much calmer now.

My friend Pancho and I were drinking aguardiente (“firewater”) and made a bet who would pass the night at the cemetery. I was so drunk, I felt brave, so I agreed to do so. But at the midnight, the ghost of my late buddy Rogaciano Mendez appeared. I was so scared, I immediately sobered up. I thank the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Some bastards came to sing serenade to my daughter when she was home alone. They wanted to seduce her, but thanks to the Virgin of San Juan’s intervention I came right in this moment and chased them away with bullets. Fortunately, I didn’t shoot anyone, only scared them. My daughter didn’t lose her honor, and I thanking for that with this retablo.
