The cats always followed me on the street. I thought they did it because I was coming back from the market and they felt food. But then I noticed they always followed me. Probably because I care about them and talk with them, and leave them something to eat whenever I can. I think they know I like them and always caress them. I thank Saint Francis for sending me this company.

I dedicate this retablo to Saint Paschal Baylon because we won a nice American kitchen in a Guanajuato’s radio program raffle. Now I can cook delicious dishes for my husband—green pozole, pork escalopes, tacos al pastor, chicken balls, marinated arrachera steak, meat with mushrooms, grilled ribs, chilaquiles and pork with beens.

The music is an important element in our family. It always with us, and we love playing musical instruments near the birds. They start singing, and it sounds so beautiful all together. I thank Saint Francis for my children having inherited the musical talent.

November 2, Basilio and Eladio Perez went to the cemetery to drink and met one mister who sat on a grave. He wanted to give them a chest full of gold so they would keep enjoying their sin, but suddenly the brothers realized it was a skeleton who spoke with them. They thank Saint James the Apostle for they managed to escape safe and sound. They promise to cut down on booze and respect the dead.

I have a black pug dog named Lucky. He fought with another angry dog and lost his eye. I dedicate this retablo to the Virgin of Guadalupe because I know she, in heaven, would look after my Lucky’s little eye.
