I wasn’t a good person in the past year. I spread scandal rumors <…> One night many devils started to come out from under my bed <…> I thank the Virgin of the Solitude and promise to be a good person.

I thank the Lord Jesus for giving me the opportunity to orbit the Earth and for working for N.A.S.A.

There were some apple trees near the river, and the apples had ripened. We went to gather them before they fall to the ground. When we were coming back with baskets full of apples the terrifying encounter happened. We met two skeletons of revolutionaries on our way. One of them was zapatista, the other one was his companion-adelita. They went with their horse. When we saw them we entrusted ourselves to the Virgin of the Rosary. The skeletons passed by and didn’t notice us. Later we found out that they had been waiting in ambush since the Revolution and that day they inspected around. We thank the Virgin because if we had said one world they would have killed us.

Adelita is a type of woman warrior who accompanied a revolutionary during the Mexican Revolution. The term derived from the popular revolutionary song “La Adelita”.

When I married Gregorio I didn’t know that besides being a kind man and a great lover he’s also a wonderful cook. He cooks almost every day, and I enjoyed all the food. I give thanks to the Virgin of San Juan for such a joy and for sending me my husband.

We had poverty and a lot of others problems in our town. But the Virgin of Guadalupe send her angel to protect us under his wings. The things are going better now.

The other night I was surfing the web and buying on Amazon. Suddenly my internet went out. I thank Chavez for saving me from the temptation of capitalism. I promise to pray to him and to hide my credit cards.

The neighborhood of the Rancho de Zorija gives thanks to the Lord of the Wonders with this retablo because they managed to control the fire caused by the explosion of a tank car and for they had only two injured persons.

I have a dog who loves me and keeps me company. And I give her food and take care. I’m very happy. And now, when she’s had seven puppies, I’m seven times happier. I thank Saint Francis for this happiness.

I give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe because my husband Toribio Amezcua is finally done with the binge.

The tempter-demons tortured and chased me. I give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe for sending her host of angels to chase the demons away.

Enrique Suarez became addicted to Coca-cola and for that reason he ended up in the hospital very sick. He thanks Saint Francis with this retablo for he got better. He promises not to drink soda again.

With infinite gratitude I dedicate this retablo to the Virgin of San Juan because thanks to my job as a dressmaker I could support my daughter Clarita who is going to finish her secretary courses.
