Holy Mother Virgin of Guadalupe, queen and protectress of the Mexicans, I offer you this retablo because you helped me with my work as a mariachi here in Garibaldi. In such difficult moments like those our country is going through, the music makes one forget about problems and brings joy into the heart of your beautiful and beloved Mexico.

I’m happy playing my instrument. And I’m happier when I notice that my music attracts the wild forest animals. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary for giving me this wonderful talent.

I’m a very liberal man and—I may confess—I’m a very good at performing the ballads. I do it with sensuality. But when after my concert on the Day of the Dead three skeletons came to my bedroom I had enough. Also I got scared and prayed Saint Michael the Archangel for help. Thanks to the Archangel the skeletons were satisfied with a couple of songs and my autographs on their CDs. I literally had to push them out because they wanted to kiss me goodbye.

Rigo de la Garza thanks the Virgin of the Solitude, because all the hours he spent learning piano as a kid gave the result. Now he’s a recognized musician and gives many concerts and has a big success. He offered this retablo.

The possibility to dance every day is the best gift that the life could have possibly given me. I love to merge with the music and to feel the flexibility of my muscles and to respond to the sound and to create the beauty in my movements. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary whom I asked to help me to become a ballet dancer, when I was a little girl. And she fulfilled my dream.

The music teacher Laura Rodriguez suffered a lot because the girls in the school where she gave lessons were horrible and very unquiet. She thanks the Virgin of Zapopan because now she can retire and with this money—together with her savings—she thinks about buying a piano to give private lessons to people who appreciate the music and can sing.

The music is a very important to our family, and it’s with us every day. Even our animals enjoy the music, and there are more singing birds in our garden than in any other. I thank the Virgin for such a harmony and because my children are also good musicians.

Raul Rodriguez was a professional musician and played saxophone. But his neighbors always complained. They didn’t let him rehearse in peace, they even threw some things in his window. They didn’t like the music. The landlord even wanted to throw Raul out. Raul thanks the Virgin because his fellows musicians rented out a room in their house to him. Now he can rehearse without being thrown trash.

Ramiro Treviño, the bass player of the rock band “The Night Cats”, had his hair on fire when the fireworks went on at the end of the concert. He thanks Saint Patrick because there were no grave consequences and he only lost his large mane.

The music is a very important part of our family’s life and is with us every day. We love playing instruments near our birds because they begin to sing. It produces a very beautiful sound. I thank Saint Francis because my kids have inherited my musical talent.
