Thank you, Virgin of Guadalupe, for helping me to celebrate the 15-year birthday of my my daughter Teresita. Because of lack of money, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to organize something for that special day.

I give thanks to Saint Martin the Cavalryman for the miracle that I’m selling all the carnitas I prepare, so I can make money for my daughter Chayito’s first communion. I’m even getting orders from the entire neighborhood.

I dedicate this retablo, in sign of gratitude, to Saint Paschal Baylon for the miracle that I learned how to cook Mexican food. Because my husband was tired to eat hot dogs and hamburgers every day. Now my beloved Aureliano and I are happy with what I cook.

Inocencio Tapia was drinking in the bar. He had so much mezcal, he started to see skeletons. They surrounded him, and one of them asked: “Why are you alone?” It was Death in person who tried to grab him. Inocencio gives thanks to Saint Michael for he managed to run away safe and sound and not kicked the bucket. It happened on November 2. Inocencio promises to behave well.

November 2, I was frightened when I saw a dead man eating from the offerings we had put in honor of my grandfather. I prayed to St. James The Apostle so that he would make this dead man rest in peace. He heard my prayers right away, and the dead man disappeared on the instant. I offer this retablo for that.

Rogaciano, Panfilo and Silverio Jimenez give infinite thanks to Saint Raymond Nonnatus for reconciling with each other. Because of the rumors spread by the fiancée of one of them, they had had such a violent quarrel they didn’t recognize each other as brothers. But then they discovered that it was a lie of that troublemaker woman.

I thank St. Martin the Cavalryman with this humble retablo because my son Pascual finally straightened his life up and found a job. He was already 35 years old, and he didn’t do nothing, only listened his music. I couldn’t support him any longer.

I was participating in the quebradita contest with my group. At the end of our routine, my partner and I did the final pose, and my pants cracked. I was scared that because of me we were going to be disqualified by the judges. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan because they didn’t notice this embarrassing moment and we won the first prize.

At the Christmas party in the neighborhood I drank a lot of punch with liquor. I didn’t notice how I got into the piñata event and there I was kicked right in the head. I give thanks to Saint Charbel for nothing bad happened to me and I got only the lump that disappeared within few days.

I dedicate this retablo to Saint Pancras for the miracle that my mother-in-law finally moved out. Since I married her daughter she lived with us. She didn’t leave us alone and always meddled with us. I thank because my wife understood that the married couple needs their own place. Now my mother-in-law comes only for short visits.
