My husband decided to cross and interbreed very different animals. I prayed the Virgin of San Juan to stop this madness. I thank the Virgin because he gave all the animals to the zoo and now does experiments only with flowers and vegetables. I hope he wouldn’t create a giant carnivorous plant.

I thank the Virgin of San Juan because I married a very sweet and beautiful woman who is also an excellent cook who satisfies all my culinary caprices.

Raul Rodriguez was a professional musician and played saxophone. But his neighbors always complained. They didn’t let him rehearse in peace, they even threw some things in his window. They didn’t like the music. The landlord even wanted to throw Raul out. Raul thanks the Virgin because his fellows musicians rented out a room in their house to him. Now he can rehearse without being thrown trash.

My mother and my grandmother taught my Carlitos to embroider. He created exquisite embroideries and was very enthusiastic about it. I was distressed and asked the Virgin of Zapopan to make so that my boy wouldn’t enjoy embroidery so much because if his father, who is a really macho, had found out that his son loved doing the women’s work he would’ve been furious. Thanks to the Virgin my son’s cousin taught him to ride a bicycle. Carlitos enjoyed it so much, he forgot about the embroideries.

March 18, 1958, Maria Luisa Hernandez was washing her son and slipped on a soap. She hit herself badly and had to stay in bed. She thought she’d never be able to walk again. In tears, she prayed to the Virgin of San Juan so that she’d heal her back and her legs. The merciful Virgin heard her, and April 22, Maria felt herself much better. Now she walks again and thanks the Virgin.

When Marina Martinez was swimming in the sea, she had a congestion because she went swimming after having eaten. She lost her senses and went to the bottom because she swallowed a lot of water. But thanks to her devotion to the Virgin of San Juan the Virgin sent dolphins to help her. The dolphins took her out of the water and brought to the coast before she drowned.

My wife began to eat in the bed. I hated it because there were a lot of crumbs in the bed. Also she chewed it with so much noise that I couldn’t sleep or watch TV. But the worst thing was that I was on a diet. But thanks to my prayers to the Virgin of San Juan an ant army came to our bed attracted by the food. They bit my wife so she stopped eating in bed.

My beauty drove the men mad. One day Rodrigo and Martin got in a fight over me and almost killed each other. I didn’t want to be a cause of troubles so I prayed to the Virgin of Zapopan. She worked the miracle, and Rodrigo fell in love with another girl. And I began dating Martin, whom I always liked more.

One night I stopped to sleep in the mountain after a long walk. In the moonlight, I saw the witches flying to Catemaco, Veracruz. I thank the Blessed Sacrament for they didn’t notice me and didn’t put a spell or an evil eye on me.

My son Arturo was a restless child. And, of course, at the chemistry class, he enjoyed doing experiments that end with explosions. I was afraid he’d be expelled from the school but the teacher told me I have nothing to worry about and that Arturo is the only one who shows a lively interest in chemistry, unlike his classmates. I thank the Virgin of San Juan.

Granddaughter of doña Cleotilde Ramos is a very restless child. And at her birthday she spilt on herself the boiled stew that was on the stove. Her grandmother thanks the Virgin because her granddaughter Marianita didn’t burn herself very badly and they were able to celebrate her birthday.

My husband and my son were bewitched by a mermaid singing. These fools wouldn’t fish. They came back home with no fish. Finally they realized that we had nothing to eat or to sell at the market. We were dying from hunger. So then they put corks in their ears for not to be bewitched. They were able to fish again, and I thank the Virgin for we have food on our table again.

I was a lousy cook and always burnt the food. I was afraid that my gluttonous boyfriend would leave me for a good cook. But Saint Paschal heard my prayers and requests and worked the miracle so I became a really good cook. I even invent my own recipes now. I thank the saint patron of cooks because my boyfriend has proposed to me.
