I thank the Holy Virgin with this retablo for granting me health. I got sick out of fear after seeing a flying object in the sky over my ranch. First, I though it was a plane, but it was something round. I was told it was an UFO from another world. It gave me a terrible diarrhea which wouldn’t stop.

Fernando Rivera had a fever and couldn’t go to the bathroom. So he made all his things in a pottie. Suddenly a scorpion got out of the pot and sat on the Fernando’s buttock. He prayed to the Lord of the Miracles so that the scorpion wouldn’t sting him in the ass because his condition could get worse. Since the Lord cured Fernando and delivered him from the scorpion, Fernando dedicates this retablo as gratitude.

My friend Eladio and I are known as real men and tough guys, so everybody in the town respects us. We give thanks to Saint Michael the Archangel with this retablo because no one knows about our big secret that we go to the mountains to be free with our love affair.

Maria Teresa Gomez, faithful to the Holy Child of Atocha, brings this retablo thanking for having met in person the painter Frida Kahlo at the “Arronte” hotel in Puebla.

I was diving when an octopus grabbed my leg with its tentacles and began to pull me to the bottom of the sea. Seeing my life in danger, I invoked the Virgin of Guadalupe, and she sent me a winged sea horse that rescued me and took me to the surface. I am sure it was a transformed angel, and I thank for that.

My daughter was having many problems with studying arithmetic. It seemed she was trying very hard, but still she couldn’t get it. I prayed to the Holy Child of Atocha for help, and then I had an idea to invent a game with additions, extractions and multiplications. Playing this game, my girl learned it really quickly. Now she’s the best in her class in arithmetic, and I give thanks.

I was preparing a marvelous dinner for special guests when I noticed that my dog, who decided that he was a special guest, got at the table and served himself. I thank Saint Paschal Baylon for I managed to fix the dishes and pretend as nothing happened there. I had a success with my dinner, and everybody complimented me.

I was drowning in the world of problems and worries, but one night the Virgin sent me a wonderful dream in which I flew through the sky filled with millions of stars guided by two little angels. Before this starry immensity I saw that my problems weren’t so big. So now I’m living my life with much more optimism and serenity. I thank the Virgin of the Rosary.

Eugenia Alvarez was practicing on uneven bars and flew off them falling down pretty badly. She brings this retablo to Saint Thomas thanking him for the recovery, although she had to leave the gymnastics.

With the present retablo, I thank Saint Jude Thaddeus because they’re taking into account and recognizing the Mexican talents in the movie industry more then before, like in the case of my fellow compatriot Guillermo del Toro who won the Oscar for the best director of the fabulous movie “The Shape of Water”.

There was a girl whom I liked very much. But I was scared to tell her. So one night I went to the bar to drink some tequila in order to have courage. Then I went to sing her a serenade, but I was so drunk I got a wrong balcony and sang it to the old maiden of the town. I give thanks to Saint Rita because neither she nor her family recognized me, otherwise, if I had kept singing, they would’ve married me. I promise to be brave in declaring my love feelings to a woman.
